‼️EMERGENCY HELP!‼️ I hate to ask this but I need help. My basset Finn has torn a hole near his shoulder and needs to go to the emergency vet tonight . I find the whole “which type of oppression is worse” debates silly but to believe homophobia isn’t systemic you’ll have to have such a narrow definition of “systemic” as to make it entirely useless.

Not only is it not bad to compare oppressions, comparing oppressions, recognizing their resonances is exactly what transforms movements from chauvinist and particularist to genuinely emancipatory. This is true even if those oppressions differ in intensity or other ways.

"don't compare homophobia to racism!" "Don't compare transphobia to homophobia" These are never statements made with an actual analytical objective in mind. They are almost exclusively used to shut down clear analogies that demonstrate the speaker's own self serving views.
