Happy All Saints Day! Let us commemorate all our Catholics saints, known and unknown, who have achieved what St. Paul outlined in 2 Tim. IV, 7-8: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. Further, on this day one-hundred and twenty-six years ago, Pope Leo XIII promulgated the encyclical Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus “On Christ the Redeemer” in which he criticized the endless, modern clamoring for the so-called “rights of man.” In response, the Vicar of Christ suggested, nay demanded, that the people instead “should hear of the rights of God.” These precious, inviolable rights of God so often overlooked by modernity, even scorned. Here is the relevant portion from number XIII of the encyclical: “You must look upon it as a chief part of your duty to engrave upon the minds of your people the true knowledge, the very likeness of Jesus Christ; to illustrate His charity, His mercies, His teaching, by your writings and your words, in schools, in Universities, from the pulpit; wherever opportunity is offered you. The world has heard enough of the so-called “rights of man.” Let it hear something of the rights of God. That the time is suitable is proved by the very general revival of religious feeling already referred to, and especially that devotion towards Our Saviour of which there are so many indications, and which, please God, we shall hand on to the New Century as a pledge of happier times to come. But as this consummation cannot be hoped for except by the aid of divine grace, let us strive in prayer, with united heart and voice, to incline Almighty God unto mercy, that He would not suffer those to perish whom He had redeemed by His Blood.”

I hope everyone has had a blessed day and may we all recall sublime teaching of Pope Pius XI in Quas Primas: “Men must look for the peace of Christ in the Kingdom of Christ; and that We promised to do as far as lay in Our power. In the Kingdom of Christ, that is, it seemed to Us that peace could not be more effectually restored nor fixed upon a firmer basis than through the restoration of the Empire of Our Lord.”
