St. John Chrysostom, as he is relevant here, is very clear in his belief that there is a punitive aspect to the justice of God, and that the purpose for our subjection to His wrath in the life to come is retributive, rather than corrective. β€˜β€œFor the wrath of God,” he says, β€œis revealed from heaven.” Whence is this evident? [...] And yet this frequently happens even in the present life, as in famines, pestilences, and wars; for each person individually, and all collectively, are subjected to punishment. What, then, will be different at that time [the Eschaton]? This: that the punishment will be more grievous, that it will be universal, and that it will not be inflicted for the same purpose. For now these things come to pass for the sake of correction (Ξ΄ΞΉΟŒΟΞΈΟ‰ΟƒΞΉΟ‚), but then for retribution (τιμωρία). This is what Paul also indicated when he said: β€œWe are chastened now, that we may not be condemned with the world” (1 Cor. 11:32). And now it seems to many that much of what happens occurs not on account of the wrath from above, but through the malice of men. Then, however, the punishment inflicted by God will be manifest, when the Judge, seated upon the dread judgement-seat, shall command some to be dragged to the furnaces, others into the outer darkness, and others to yet further punishments, inexorable and unbearable.’ –St. John (Chrysostom), Serm. 3 on Romans

Matthew's "most serious objection to Fatima" is that "there are lots of other cases where people look at the sun and report similar experiences to the ones the Fatima witnesses experienced." The problem with this objection is that Fatima has lots of evidentially significant features that these "other cases" lack. For instance, Fatima involved a high degree of convergence between the phenomenology of a large and diverse crowd of witnesses - including skeptical newsmen - with only a couple of outliers that are easily explained. By comparison, the first example of one of these "other cases" that Matthew cites in his article is a putative 'miracle' that happened in Necedah, Wisconsin in 1950. Matthew claims that the Necedah witnesses' testimony was "similarly convergent" as the Fatima witnesses. In reality, that couldn't be further from the truth: --According to the 8 October 1950 issue of the La Crosse Tribune, β€œmost of the persons in attendance, however, noticed nothing extraordinary about the sun’s action” during the supposed 'miracle' of Necedah. --An 8 October 1950 issue of the Los Angeles Examiner reported that "**Several women among the thousands of visitors** jamming this village also **said they saw the sun whirl. Newsmen saw nothing unusual**" So, far from being a devastating blow to the credibility of the Miracle of the Sun, Matthew's first example of these"other cases" perfectly illustrates what should have happened if the Miracle of the Sun were a natural event -- the vast majority of witnesses, especially skeptical witnesses, reporting seeing nothing. Of course, that is not what happened that day -- as already noted, the vast majority of witnesses, including skeptics, reported highly convergent phenomenology. It’s also worth noting there was literally a statue of Our Lady of Fatima at the site of the Necedah apparitions and the August apparition explicitly made reference to Fatima, so perhaps it is not surprising that a minority of people reported a smattering of details that echoed reports from Fatima crowd. It also simply is not true that there was β€œagreement about the basic phenomenology of the event” that was even remotely comparable to the Fatima witnesses among the minority of witnesses that claimed to see anything at all. When I am less busy with school, I am planning on publishing a comparative analysis that will go through the rest of the examples that have been marshaled by Fatima skeptics - but, needless to say, they dont survive scrutiny either. I will also point out the glaring problems with Matthew's hasty dismissal of the photogrammetric evidence, distant witnesses, rapid drying, opthamological evidence, miracle cures, etc...

Friends, in just two days, Christians were murdered on two continents. On Friday, gunmen opened fire on a funeral at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Karak, Jordan, and killed nine people. On Saturday, armed men attacked Orthodox churches and homes in Oromia, Ethiopia, and killed more than forty. These are not statistics. They are our brothers and sisters, members of the mystical Body of Christ. When Saul set out to destroy the Church, the risen Jesus asked him, β€œWhy are you persecuting me?” The Lord is still being persecuted in these victims of anti-Christian violence. Christianity is by far the most persecuted religion in the world today. Those of us who worship in comfort have to ask what the deaths of these martyrs demand of us. At the very least, they demand that we pray for them, learn their names, press our leaders to act, and refuse to look away. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.

St. Yuhanna Ibn Mansur Ibn Sarjun vs the Tomos of Constantinople 1484 affirmed by Crete 2016. If you mediate the ekporeumenon, you contradict 1484 which says the Son DOES NOT do so and CONTRIBUTES NOTHING WHATSOEVER eternally (no energetic procession either).

"O love of souls, O my Jesus! I love Thee, I love Thee, I love Thee; but still I love Thee too little. Oh, give me more love, give me flames that may make me live always burning with Thy love! I do not myself deserve it; but Thou dost well deserve it, O infinite Goodness. Amen."

St. Scholarios places the sanctification of Mary's flesh at the moment the Spirit uses it for the Incarnation, not at her own conception. What need would Mary have for sanctification if we assume the position of Roman Catholics?
