RIP Elke. She was one of my favorite actresses & absolutely stunning. Last film I saw her in was Then There Were None (1974). She & Oliver Reed were so hot together that their explosive on screen chemistry obliterated all other memories I had of the film. 🔥

TWO?!? IN A WEEK? Rest in Peace, Captain. I had so much fun with you on both sets of X2 and the hours we spent talking for the TNG Blu-rays. You were so gracious with me and you were very complimentary of all the interviews we did. May your journey to the Final Frontier be revelatory. deadline.com/2026/10/patrick…

I am begging the French to be nationalistic. We must preserve this level of polite contempt.

A beauty, a charmer, a star. RIP
Elke Sommer, the German-born actress who starred in several major 1960s films like “The Prize” with Paul Newman and the “Pink Pnther” sequel “A Shot in the Dark” with Peter Seller, has died. She was 85.
She died just three months after her husband, Wolf Walther, died of cancer.

Gena Rowlands would be so proud of you all right now. And to the asshat slagging off John Cassavetes, you clearly haven't seen Faces, Gloria or A Woman Under The Influence!!

So sorry to hear Elke Sommer has died. We were in Percy’s Progress together & though we had no scenes together we often chatted off set. She was delightful & very beautiful.

RIP Elke Sommer [1940 - 2026]❤️
I probably saw her first in A Shot in the Dark where her talent for comedy was apparent.
She totally won me over in Carry on Behind - a marvellous addition to the established cast. Her scenes with Williams are joyous💯

Actress Elke Sommer has passed aged 85, just three months after her husband died. Huge fun in Pink Panther sequel A Shot in the Dark, she was also adored in the UK by producer couple Peter Rogers & Betty Box who used her in their films across 20 years inc Carry On Behind in 1975

Jeez, they keep coming this week. We did the LISA AND THE DEVIL DVD commentary together (with Alfred Leone and Elke’s dogs) at her house in Holmby Hills. R.I.P.

Oh, rest in sweet peace Elke Sommer. I worked with her on the Off Broadway play TAMARA in 1989-1990. She didn’t know any of our names so it was always “Hello, friend!” and “Where’s my wine?” For Christmas, she gave us holiday lithographs that she had made. Dear lady. #ElkeSommer

#RIP Elke Sommer. A producer on ‘The Prize’ told her: “You have to look at the screen: behind you there is an aura. I can’t explain it, but you’ve got it and [others] haven’t, despite all their beauty, their physical charms and their features.” hollywoodreporter.com/movies…

Another day, another sad loss. Rest in peace, Elke Sommer, beautiful comedic costar of arguably the best Pink Panther movie.

I missed most of Barbara Barrie on Barney Miller because I was of an age when I was out of the house more than watching TV, but even before Breaking Away or a memorable one episode shot on Mary Tyler Moore, I'd seen One Potato, Two Potato (1964). Brave film, brave performer.
