Who would you rather have negotiating with Iran--President Obama or Toronto Mayor Ford? My money is on Ford.

Put this way you can really see the generational unfairness.

And let's look at that OAS clawback. OAS doesn't get clawed back until *individual* income exceeds $93,000. Meanwhile, child benefit cheques start to get clawed back when *family* incomes reach $39,000.

I stood up for Sir John A Macdonald when others were tearing down his statues. I opposed policies that had no impact on the environment but that made our society and its economy weaker. I always said that naming ships after great Canadian battles and heroes

A bureaucrat doesn't just draft up a memo like this for fun. This was requested by the Minister. Govt will decide if posts are "out of context?"

Ok. I'm changing my mind. This bodes really poorly. This is the new Edmonton Public Library Central Branch, built while Bélanger was running the show on the city side. – at Calgary, Alberta
Edmonton’s own Carol Bélanger has been tapped to judge the national design competition to restore the Prime Minister’s residence at 24 Sussex Drive. Bélanger is an icon in the architecture world, whose impact is seen and felt all over #yeg today. Let’s take a journey…. 1/5

C-34's Digital Safety Commission will be rushed to have its board appointed, get staffed up, secure an office, & receive its orders to start censoring us. It won't have much time for branding. I thought I would help by designing its logo.

Normal democratic countries shut down debate on Bills that require service providers to build surveillance capabilities for police & CSIS right?

Some irony in exempting Bluesky for under-16s while banning X when both are listed as 16+.

You have to read Bill C-34 on The Commission to believe it. It sets the rules on age verification, social media bans, and content removals while serving as combined regulator, investigator and advocate. At the start, Chair alone can be the full Commission. xitter.cf/mgeist/status/20665288…
The kids’ social media ban gets the headlines, but my post argues Bill C-34’s most consequential element may be the Commission, a super-regulator overseeing the system with its own rules of evidence, potentially secret hearings, and wide-ranging powers. michaelgeist.ca/2026/06/thec…

What's worse than a Liberal Bill targeting online content? One that doesn't set out the rules in the Bill so Parliament can debate their merits. Instead it gives Cabinet the power over 19 decisions & a Liberal-appointed "Digital Safety Commission" 31 more. Bill C-34 is worse than we thought. 🧵
The government’s digital safety bill regulates social media services, AI chatbots, and potentially any other online service or application. Who is targeted? What criteria for regulation? Bill C-34 doesn't say. It leaves all of those decisions to cabinet. xitter.cf/mgeist/status/20650589…
