I think this woman is smart enough to know that building a +200ft tall ultra voltage transmission line 140 yards away from her house, entirely to feed a hyper scale AI data center campus, is going to shave a good 20% off her rural property value and create an audible buzz.

Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale is a major force pushing the Trump admin to lock up unhoused people.
Lonsdale founded "The Cicero Institute," a lobbying group, 8 years ago. Now they've been instrumental in passing laws criminalizing camping or sleeping in public in 16 states.
It's unclear why the billionaire has a passion project of getting homeless people incarcerated.

We have a centrally planned economy now. It's just not oriented around any kind of broad social, national, or environmental priorities. It works to try and feed financial speculation and help some of the most obscenely wealthy people in history arrogate control of more resources.

A Justice Department opinion now lets soldiers arrest people on US soil outside the border zones the Pentagon controls, reading around the law that keeps the military out of civilian policing.

We are not building 40 nuclear power plants worth of new data centers for WhatsApp and DoorDash, come on man.
This is like telling people in California experiencing drought to put a brick in their toilet tank, while ignoring the almond farms.

Data centers are tremendously useful in hundreds of very obvious ways. Do you like online banking? Doordash? Email? WhatsApp? YouTube? Checking medical records online? Video calls with grandma? Congrats, you're a data center user.

this is a factor in the backlash against data centers too. tech leaders aligned themselves with the far right, who in their right mind wants any of these people to run the world? most people want all of these freaks to fail

The Trump admin has such bad vibes that one of their most loyal propagandists became convinced a targeted news leak was the White House trying to entrap her.
An official in the State Department responded on an official account with "lol."
This is who holds power.

lol, these are my text messages and documents. The "markings" are FOIA redactions required even for voluntary disclosure. To prove this isn't a "trap," I will happily disclose the documents myself. Here they are (1/x):

NEW: The Israeli government is paying for ads on Ted Cruz's podcast.
Cruz can't take the money himself. But, under an unusual licensing deal, those foreign funds can go to a super PAC dedicated exclusively to Cruz.

Take a deeper look at AIPAC's disastrous self-own in #CA14: A month ago, this was a pretty low-key special election with @aishabbwahab cruising to a big win on the strength of progressive values and the endorsement of the Democratic Party plus Labor. Instead, AIPAC dumped $8 million dollars into the race, is still on track to lose by double digits, AND turned Wahab into a national name with progressive activists across the country firmly in her corner. Plus, for an added bonus, they exposed Rep. Zoe Lofgren to national derision as an AIPAC shill that went against the Party and could not manufacture a win next door despite every advantage. AIPAC may have cash but their brand is toxic, they are desperate, and they are still losing. The East Bay knows what's up!
It's really kind of wild that leading Progressive Dems and AIPAC/Corporate Dems across the country can congratulate Senator Aisha Wahab on her victory but the Chair of the California Congressional Delegation Zoe Lofgren does not have the leadership, wisdom, and grace to do the same. Her deep dive into covering for a genocide has rotted her political instincts.

Scoop from @axiosalex: "Allies of Mike Rogers, Michigan's GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate, have asked AIPAC not to advertise on his behalf, triggering a rupture with the powerful but polarizing pro-Israel group.
Rogers spoke with AIPAC chair Michael Tuchin in Los Angeles last week. The next day, AIPAC shelved an already-cut video ad targeting Rogers' Democratic rival, outspoken Israel critic Abdul El-Sayed.
The extraordinary tension underscores how far AIPAC's political standing has fallen amid voters' anger over the war in Gaza. Even Rogers — a staunchly pro-Israel Republican — fears the group's public support could be a liability in the Nov. 3 election." axios.com/2026/08/22/mike-ro…
