It was a privilege to help lead the effort to successfully pass a Resolution to oppose inhumane wildlife killing contests. These are completely different from ethical hunting practices which most people in Nevada support, including me.
Overwhelming public & unanimous Reno council support for @NaomiDuerr & @votereese’s resolution asking the @NvDOW Commission to ban wildlife killing contests, an important statement of humane wildlife values.
Thank you @MayorSchieve @OscarDelgadoNV @JennyBrekhus @NeomaJardon ♥️

This device is called a "spiked muzzle." 😡
It's designed to be so painful for a mother cow that she'll push her baby away to avoid the pain.
Just one of many examples in which cruelty is casually a part of just about every aspect of animal agriculture today. 💔

TY @repdinatitus for leading a bipartisan call for @USDA to finalize rule for disaster plans at puppy mills, roadside zoos & other facilities 🙌
With increasingly frequent & severe storms, wildfires & other emergencies, they need plans in place to care for their animals 🐶🐾
My colleagues and I agree, the @USDA should quickly implement the long overdue rule to require emergency preparedness that protects animals in facilities. See our bipartisan letter calling for this common sense requirement.

Thank you Chair @HowardWattsNV and Vice Chair @Cohen4AD29 for hearing SB 344 in the Assembly Committee on Natural Resources. SB 344 will go a long way to ensuring that exotic animals such as lions, tigers, elephants and chimpanzees will get the care and attention that they need.

No wonder five other states' wildlife commissions have banned wildlife killing contests: Bad optics, worse ethics.
We urge the @NvDOW commission to initiate rulemaking this Saturday

DYK: There are more 🐯 in captivity in the U.S. than in all the wild😢
On #InternationalTigerDay let's put an end to this cruelty by passing the Big Cat Public Safety Act, which will prohibit the possession of big cats like 🐯&🦁 as pets.

Where will it end with @SteveKingIA?
He voted not to crack down on dog fighting ❌
He voted no on dozens of bipartisan bills to protect animals ❌
Steve King doesn’t represent Iowa values. #IA04

The costs of meat production:
- Thousands of meatpacking workers are being forced to work in unsafe conditions
- Millions of animals raised for slaughter will be "euthanized" because plants close
- And remember, this virus likely started in a meat market

@AVMAvets accepted methods incld: drowning in foam (63 secs to death), suffocating w/ CO2 (6-7 mins), & baking alive via "ventilation shutdown" (30 mins - 3 hours)

No one should keep wild cats as pets or patronize roadside zoos. It's time to pass the #BigCatPublicSafetyAct, which will protect big cats by keeping them out of the hands of people who would exploit them or not care for them properly.

Dairy cows live lives of confinement and cruelty. 💔
Fight this. Ditchy dairy & choose #PlantBased milk over cows' milk. ❌🥛❌
