For any Trump supporter who happens to run across this, here’s the unvarnished truth: If you voted for Trump in 2016 you’re verified to be gullible. If you voted for him in 2020 you’re a verified idiot. If you plan to vote for him in 2024 you’re a verified traitor. Do better!

Watching Erin Brunett and guest Frank Luntz, Luntz arguing that it is incumbent on D's not to seek revenge, to seek accommodation with R's and Trump. This is the most idiocic argument I have heard. No revenge sure, but Trumpism has to be rooted out, investigated, and punished.

Everyone connected to Nixon in the Watergate scandal went to prison. The same should happen to The Trump Administration and anyone connected to Trump.

A lot of the people mocking Ukraine’s refusal to surrender also build their entire identity around being tough, armed, self-reliant and ready to defend their homes if the government ever turns against them. Then another country is actually invaded, and suddenly the advice is: negotiate. Give up the land. Be realistic. Translate that into their own language. Someone breaks into your house, takes the garage, shoots the dog and threatens your family. Your response is not to hand over the keys, the car and half the property because resistance has become inconvenient. That is the contradiction. Ukraine is doing exactly what these people claim they would do themselves.

Dear Secretary Bessent @SecScottBessent, My name is Everett Stern. In 2010 I was a compliance officer at @HSBC. From a back office in New Castle, Delaware, I watched billions of dollars move to drug cartels, sanctioned regimes, and terrorist organizations. The enemies of the United States. I documented it, I escalated it, and when the bank would not act, I took it to the @FBI, the @CIA, and eventually the @SECGov. The result was a $1.92 billion settlement. At the time, it was one of the largest in American history. It was also about five weeks of the bank’s profit. Not one banker was charged. Not one went to prison. I paid a different price. I lost my career, my savings, and my place in the industry I had trained for. I was blacklisted. Every door in American finance closed at once. I slept on a camping cot in a 300 square foot apartment because I could not afford a bed, and I waited tables at @PFChangs to eat. I tell you this not for sympathy, but so you understand that I know exactly what it costs to do the right thing in American finance, and exactly how little the system does in return. I made that sacrifice because I believed it would change something. Yesterday, your department fined @BankofAmerica $1.2 billion for failing to report more than $5 billion in suspicious transactions, some of it tied by your own findings to Chinese laundering networks, narcotics, and the southwest border, alongside 475 apparent sanctions violations touching Russia, Iran, and global terrorism. The bank admitted it willfully violated the Bank Secrecy Act. Fourteen years after HSBC. A bank with “America” in its name. And once again, not one individual charged. Secretary Bessent, I want to say plainly what I believe you already know. The fines are not working. A fine is paid by shareholders, absorbed by the balance sheet, and forgotten by the next earnings call. Bank of America reported earnings this morning. Nobody who set the alert thresholds, nobody who decided the 2024 cease and desist could wait, nobody who chose the backlog over the law will lose a single thing they value. Their lives are untouched. That is the entire reason the behavior repeats. This is money laundering. This is blood money. Money that reaches a cartel buys fentanyl that kills Americans. Money that reaches a terrorist organization buys the next attack. This country has fought a war on drugs and a war on terror for decades, at enormous cost in lives and treasure, and all the while we have allowed the financing to flow through institutions we charter and regulate. Cut off the money and we win. We have never seriously tried. There is also a question of equal justice that I cannot let go. Before I walked into the FBI building to report HSBC, I stopped in front of the Great Seal on the wall and read the words engraved beneath it: “Justice is the defense of our liberty.” I believed that. I still want to. But every day in this country, people go to prison for crimes that are nothing next to moving money for the people who want Americans dead. A suit, a title, and a corporate badge should not be a shield from the consequences that apply to everyone else. If a street dealer goes to prison for what he sells, the banker who moved the cartel’s money should be standing next to him. I also want to raise something that is rarely said in these conversations. Why has no one inside Bank of America come forward the way I did? The answer is that everyone in American banking knows what happened to me, and to the whistleblowers who came after. The last person who spoke up is the only policy anyone believes. That is a culture problem, and it starts with leadership, in the banks and in the agencies that regulate them. This is not a political issue. It has spanned administrations of both parties. It is a national security issue, and I am asking you to treat it as one. Three things would change the math overnight. Refer individuals for criminal prosecution. Not the analyst in the queue. The executives who set the thresholds and chose the risk. One banker in handcuffs would do more than every fine in Treasury’s history combined. End “too big to jail.” An institution cannot be too big to fail and too big to jail at the same time. If it is the first, it must be held to a higher standard, not a lower one. And if Bank of America will not act as America’s bank, review its charter. A national charter is a privilege granted on behalf of the American people. It should be conditioned on not moving money for the people trying to kill them. Secretary Bessent, you said yesterday that these actions send a clear message that even the biggest institutions are not above the law. With respect, the institution was never the problem. The people inside it are above the law, and they know it. Until that changes, I will keep writing letters like this one, and the next bank will keep paying the next fine. I gave up everything I had to stop this. I am asking you to use the power you have to finish it. Respectfully, Everett A. Stern HSBC Whistleblower Founder and Intelligence Director, Tactical Rabbit

I'm going to repeat something I've said before - because I'm feeling it again: When the final damage assessment is complete -- well into the future -- Trump's greatest crime will prove to be espionage - AND - it will be THE most catastrophic breach of national security in American history. We will discover he passed secrets to Russia from Day 1 because he WAS compromised; and he did favors for the Saudis shortly after, purely for personal grift; and -- well, who knows what the %$#@& else. His many Useful Idiocies will boggle the mind. And his America First gaslight will be remembered as it SHOULD be remembered: "He put Trump Before America, facilitated by millions of morons disguised as patriots." His treachery, unquenchable cravings for greed and personal grandiosity and impulsive needs for power, legitimacy, revenge, and entitlement - will have massively impacted the globe, permanently shifted wealth, and cost many millions of lives. I do have to add that a good deal of it - LOTS - would not have happened but for the broad media's persistent, consistent, and widespread normalization of his evident disorders.

A message to all sane Republicans: He pardoned 1,600 violent criminals. You said nothing. He bulldozed the East Wing. You said nothing. He interfered with the release of the Epstein files. You said nothing. He took over the Kennedy Center and renamed it after himself. You said nothing. He accepted a $400 million airplane as a personal gift. You said nothing. He threatened Canada, Cuba, Denmark, Greenland, Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil. You said nothing. He tariffed just about everyone but Russia, causing inflation and instability worldwide. You said nothing. He attacked a nation during mediated negotiations. You said nothing. His ill-conceived war killed 175 children on day one. You said nothing. He alienated and insulted our allies. You said nothing. His ICE Army terrorized and murdered U.S. citizens. You said nothing. He committed murder on the high seas. You said nothing. He co-opted the Justice Department and directed it to prosecute his political enemies. You said nothing. It's time to start talking!!! It's long overdue!!!!

Oil is flowing through Hormuz, and prices are $100/barrel. That’s not a contradiction. Oil is moving *because* prices are $100/barrel. That’s the risk premium necessary for crews to risk their lives and insurers to underwrite it. $100/barrel also makes land routes through Syria economical. Without US naval assistance, the market clearing prices for oil would be even higher. But is it really a US victory for prewar oil flows to resume at $100/barrel instead of the $60-70/barrel we had before the Iran War? Especially when we have to devote 30% of deployed USN vessels to achieve $100/barrel oil?

This is what Trump voters did to the USA. They were bored with the ease and civility of modern life - and angry that people who didn’t look like them also got to enjoy it. So they trashed everything our forefathers had built over generations while screaming “fuck your feelings.” They set fire to their own house to own the libs. Now they cry on TikTok about the outrageous price of diesel, or their family farms going bankrupt, or not being able to afford healthcare… and they want us to feel sympathy for them. Yet, given the opportunity, they’d wreck everything all over again. They’ve learned nothing, and they never will, because learning requires humility. Learning requires a willingness to understand when you’re wrong. Cartoon by @sillyalexnorris

To their credit, the Founding Fathers always knew a king-like tyrant would one day try to rule as personal dictator and use the powers of the presidency to live above the law. But they never foresaw an entire branch of government, consisting of hundreds of legislators, abdicating oath in favor of partisan complicity and grift, and they certainly never foresaw algorithmic media producing a citizenry so manipulated by obvious deceit.

Every single day during the presidency of Joe Biden, the Strait of Hormuz was open. Biden never pushed to have his face on coins and likeness on monuments, nor did he threaten to bulldoze a building if his name didn't get put up upon it. Every day during the presidency of Joe Biden, diplomacy was a valid tactic, empathy was a positive human emotion, science was a respected authority, math was calculated correctly, English wasn't butchered, and reasoned thought wasn't suppressed in an effort to divide the electorate with tribal contrarianism. Biden never renamed bodies of water or scientific terminology. And Biden never accidentally confused one of his ex-wives with a woman he raped.
