Criminal networks exploit the connectivity and anonymity of the online world. As wildlife traffickers increasingly use online platforms to facilitate illegal trade, authorities must continue adapting their tools, techniques and cooperation efforts to detect, disrupt and deter wildlife crime in the digital age. #OnlineWildlifeCrime #WildlifeCrime #ICCWC #TogetherAgainstWildlifeCrime #WorldFreeofWildlifeCrime ICCWC Partners: @CITES, @INTERPOL_EC, @UNODC_ENV, @WBG_ClimateEnv & @WCO_OMD

A milestone in tackling crimes that affect the environment. At #UNTOC2026 States Parties adopted a resolution to establish an ad hoc committee to develop a new protocol under UNTOC. Building on years of experience in helping countries address these crimes, @UNODC stands ready to support the process ahead. ℹ️docs.un.org/en/CTOC/COP/2026…

Found across the mountains of Central and South Asia, snow leopards face threats from poaching and illegal wildlife trade, with their skins, bones and other body parts targeted for illicit markets. Wildlife crime threatens biodiversity and fuels criminal networks that operate across borders. ICCWC supports countries in strengthening investigations, enhancing cooperation, and disrupting wildlife trafficking networks. #MeetTheSpecies #SnowLeopard #InternationalSnowLeopardDay #ICCWC #TogetherAgainstWildlifeCrime #WorldFreeofWildlifeCrime ICCWC Partners: @CITES, @INTERPOL_EC, @UNODC_ENV, @WBG_ClimateEnv & @WCO_OMD

💰 Illicit profits fuel wildlife crime. #DidYouKnow? Criminals involved in wildlife crime often use money laundering techniques to conceal the proceeds of their illegal activities and integrate them into the legitimate economy. By following financial trails, investigators can identify key actors, uncover criminal networks, and target the profits that drive wildlife crime. #WildlifeCrime #FinancialInvestigations #FollowTheMoney #MoneyLaundering #ICCWC #TogetherAgainstWildlifeCrime #WorldFreeofWildlifeCrime ICCWC Partners: @CITES, @INTERPOL_EC, @UNODC_ENV, @WBG_ClimateEnv & @WCO_OMD

Wildlife trafficking, corruption and drug trafficking may have more in common than we think. At #UNTOC13, we discussed how these crimes intersect in the Caribbean, with perspectives from governments, prosecutors and law enforcement experts. Understanding these links can help uncover the wider criminal networks that threaten biodiversity, deplete natural resources and deprive coastal communities of livelihoods and income.

Wildlife Crime = Biodiversity Loss Every illegally traded animal or plant species represents more than a single loss. Wildlife crime drives species decline, disrupts ecosystems and threatens the biodiversity that communities and economies depend on. #ICCWC #TogetherAgainstWildlifeCrime #WorldFreeofWildlifeCrime ICCWC Partners: @CITES, @INTERPOL_EC, @UNODC_ENV, @WBG_ClimateEnv & @WCO_OMD

📚 Partner Resource Spotlight from @UNODC Rooting Out Corruption: An Introduction to Addressing the Corruption Fuelling Forest Loss (2023) This publication explores the role and impact of corruption in driving forest loss and highlights how global forest management is interconnected. It examines how conservation efforts in one country can unintentionally shift pressure onto primary forests elsewhere, particularly in regions where governance structures may be weaker and corruption more prevalent. 📖 Read the publication: iccwc-wildlifecrime.org/site… #ICCWC #UNODC #Forests #AntiCorruption #EnvironmentalCrime #Sustainability

Illegal wildlife trade threatens wildlife and human health. The capture, transport and sale of wild animals can increase opportunities for pathogens to spread between wildlife, domestic animals and people. At the same time, wildlife crime contributes to biodiversity loss and ecosystem disruption. Protecting wildlife helps protect both planetary and human health. #ICCWC #TogetherAgainstWildlifeCrime #WorldFreeofWildlifeCrime

Migratory birds cross thousands of kilometres and countless borders. Wildlife crime does too. Every year, migratory birds connect countries, ecosystems and communities through their remarkable journeys. Yet along their flyways, many face threats from illegal killing, poisoning, trapping and trafficking. This #WorldMigratoryBirdDay, we are reminded that protecting migratory birds requires international cooperation, strong enforcement, and collective action against wildlife crime. Together, we can help safeguard their journeys across borders and generations. #EveryBirdCounts #YourObservationMatters #WMBD2026 #ICCWC #TogetherAgainstWildlifeCrime #WorldFreeofWildlifeCrime

Congratulations to @thaicustoms on the interception of 446 large tusk pieces & 950 smaller ivory pieces in transit through Laem Chabang port. Thai authorities are now pursuing a transnational investigation, building on information exchanged with law enforcement counterparts in Africa and Asia. The seizure follows up on the 2025 Wildlife Inter-Regional Enforcement (WIRE) Forum, with support from @UNODC and @WJCommission under ICCWC #GUARDWildlife.
