The story of Kitavi Mutua, the Nation journalist who died after a snake bite, is more Heartbreaking & tragic than we thought. He was bitten by a spitting cobra while asleep, a species common in Kitui due to the hot weather. He woke up immediately and was rushed to hospital. However, after trying to fight the venom, the medics realised that his condition was getting worse. Upon further examination, they discovered that he had an underlying condition; diabetes. He was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU for two weeks. What makes this story even more painful is that Mr Kitavi had saved the lives of many residents in Kitui who had been bitten by snakes. He used to rush them to the hospital using his own vehicle…. RIP
