Re: "i wonder whether it's comfortable to sit still in a racecar" - I've had a few really, really lovely naps in cockpit during red flags. So nice. The warm, comforting pressure of the belts and HANS holding your head up. Highly recommend.

Let's see that share count
Today is the day that AI passed the "financial modeling Turing test" for me.
A "push button" build from scratch Skill that one-shotted a model on $MU that is indistinguishable (to me) from a model that a junior analyst would build from scratch. With full, impeccable adherence to all aspects of who i like to format, design & build models (took a few turns to dial it in).
Opus 5.5 is unbelievable.
Two qualis is double the total excitement of the Monaco weekend, I am for this.
Also think they should one-off award quali points for the top 6 spots on the old scoring system, 10-6-4-3-2-1. Let's get maximum attack one lap battles.
This is great, and worth a read for virtually anyone to learn something from.
But lately I've also found myself reading these high profile (particularly tech) long reads through the lens of "ok, what wrong lessons will young founders take from this" and this one's.. Prolific.
Mark, by @colossusjeremy.
This is a story about the head of history's largest nonterritorial empire, who nonetheless remains a prisoner of his rivals. Has he finally found a way out?
The profile has been nearly a year in the making. Stern interviewed three dozen people, including Zuckerberg, his MMA coach, and his critics and competitors at the frontier AI labs. He spoke with his parents, Karen and Ed, and watched their son get punched in the face.
The story spans Meta HQ in Menlo Park, the Zuckerbergs' homes in Palo Alto and Lake Tahoe, and a party in a Manhattan warehouse with Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet. There is also a sneak peek of Aaron Sorkin's forthcoming sequel about Zuckerberg, sourced via a Hollywood fixer Stern first encountered in Russia.
The result is a profile unlike one you've read before.

British racing driver Ollie Millroy was involved in a huge crash during the China GT on Saturday
With emergency crews not immediately at the scene, fellow driver Loek Hartog ran towards the burning wreck and helped pull him to safety. Ollie suffered six broken ribs, a broken collarbone, fractures to his hand and finger, and a bruised lung.
He remains in a stable condition.
Mr Hartog joined Good Morning Britain from the Netherlands

I was working on things with the Italian Grand Prix the entire day, and I'm just now finished, so I was going back and forth between work and getting updates out regarding what happened today in China GT.
I want to give huge credit to @hcehce419 for assisting with navigating Chinese social media and translations. That was a really big help.
As someone who worked as a marshal myself in the past, seeing none of the marshals at the Shanghai circuit react is just shocking. I've had to deal with burning race cars as well and never did I think "You know, what? I'm gonna sit this one out" or whatever it is the marshals at Shanghai were thinking. I'm not saying this to pat myself on the back, but what I mean is that I can't imagine seeing an emergency unfolding - an emergency marshals are supposedly trained for to deal with - and simply not responding.
Hearing from the teams involved that the ambulance driver was sleeping and didn't wake up, just adds to the horror. This is the type of shit that happened in the 60s, like the ambulance driver transporting Jackie Stewart to hospital in Belgium, who got lost. But for something like this to happen in 2026, is unacceptable.
I think we can confidently say that there would've been a driver fatality today, if it wasn't for Loek Hartog. But the fact that Ollie's life apparently purely depended on whether or not a competitor would stop and help him rather than it depending on the safety crews and marshals, makes me sick.

Yang Baijie, the teammate of Neil Verhagen in the TBC by 610Racing BMW, which was also involved in the crash, will withdraw from the Xiaomi China GT Championship as well out of protest.
"The rescue crew left the scene after handing over the fire extinguisher [to Loek Hartog] out of fear. And the ambulance didn't arrive until fifteen minutes later, because the ambulance driver was asleep and, even when someone knocked on his window, he didn't wake up", he describes.
"After the race, the stewards summoned us to the hearing room without any concern for the driver's condition", Baijie continues. "I was shocked that the stewards' first reaction was to laugh, and to try to shift the blame onto us drivers. Even the chief steward arrogantly characterized the incident as a 'low‑level mistake'. My teammate is a factory driver and a Daytona winner; it's unbelievable that their first instinct was to try to steer public opinion against us to reduce their own negative exposure."
Baijie is also threatening with legal action, just like FIST Team AAI. "We will not tolerate the stewards' and the organizers' handling of this matter ... Thank you, angel [refering to Loek]. See you in hell, organizers."

FIST Team AAI have released a statement, heavily criticizing the "serious negligence in on-site emergency response and safety rescue operations" in the Xiaomi China GT Championship. "After the accident [in Race 1 in Shanghai], the organizers failed to allocate sufficient medical resources to carry out treatment as soon as possible."
The statement continues: "It is particularly distressing that during the live broadcast, the organizers did not verify the situation on the scene, and hastily said the drivers left the cars on their own. The actual situation is: our driver was rescued from the burning car by Loek Hartog, regardless of his own safety. We pay our highest respect to Loek for his heroic act of giving himself up to save others."
FIST Team AAI are withdrawing from all future races in China GT, until a meeting is held to discuss the accident with the organizers.
The team demand a comprehensive investigation to clarify the problems with track safety, the live broadcasts and the release of official information. They want a formal apology from the organizers to the teams and drivers involved as well as their families after the inadequate rescue efforts. Before considering returning to China GT, FIST Team AAI want an upgraded safety plan to be published. The team warns of possible legal action.

Loek Hartog has shared: "When I saw a car turning into a huge fireball far ahead, there wasn't really a decision to make. From what I had seen, I genuinely believed the driver might not be able to get out by himself. I stopped, got out and went towards the car. There was never a moment of doubt."
"And reflecting on it afterwards, I'm grateful for the people I've had around me throughout my life and career who have taught me to recognize when something is bigger than racing and to live in the present. This is what living in the present is like", he continues. "It was scary. There were moments where I didn't know if I would actually be able to get Ollie out. But this isn't about what I did, and I'm sure many people in the same position would have reacted exactly the same way."
Hartog concludes: "Today could have ended very differently. I'm incredibly grateful that it didn't."

I was sent more footage of the aftermath of the crash. Loek Hartog is a hero.
The Dutchman was around nine positions behind the crash and he stopped his Phantom Global Porsche, was handed a fire extinguisher by whoever it was, and started putting out the flames of Ollie Millroy's Ferrari himself.
Unfortunately, marshals were nowhere to be found and the response of any other safety crew seemed rather slow.
