Housekeeping : I have not been posting any wine for a while now.
That’s because I went sober since the end of the summer - except a few social occasion.
Needed to re-set the engine ahead of Alba truffles season.
Good news: back to regular programming tomorrow!
amazing line-up!
From last weekend but had an amazing dinner at Ox & Olive in DC with our wine club friends. Great atmosphere and incredible wines to go along with a great meal.

who said the good life was easy???
It’s braising, stew and soup season so making some stock, 48 hours, 24 to go, 6 pounds of beef necks and oxtails, first blanched in salt water to remove impurities, then roasted, first 8 hours nothing else as that impairs ability to skim, then add fresh mirepoix, second 24 hours, strain and add 6 pounds more of same, plus roasted onion, celery and carrot and fresh bay leaves @pippopotamus @DawsonKristo @turt1e @fleckcap @MrBlueberryT @FlorenciSulla @MiamKitty @NickAnt12345
feast!
That 70s show! The 71 was working right off the cork pull - beautiful nose, still had plenty of fruit, great integration. The 77 had a huge bouquet but opened completely dull. Patiently waited and after about an hour in the decanter it was alive as a pretty and pleasurable pour. Both had a great pauillac signature - cigar and leather and just a touch of minerality.
Have gotten very lucky with cork pulls on older mouton lately!!! @MiamKitty
Quality time!
Decided to spend some quality time on my own with Angélus 1982, Bollinger LGA and 007 Casino Royale (the same bottle was featured in the film). @MiamKitty

you can skip straight to boob dress pics and skip the dissertation…I did..😀
Tonight’s lintels at Katami come with a great boob dress and a side of @EPA commentary that I hope @epaleezeldin reads.
The @EPA’s potential plan announced today to retroactively reallocate RINs from Small Refinery Exemptions (SREs) to 2026 obligations creates a significant risk that could realistically lead to regional gasoline shortages and higher prices for every American. The EPA’s “approach one” towards SRE reallocation would retroactively change the RVO/RINs expense for every refiner, blender, and gasoline/ diesel importer in the US. This unexpected retroactive cost could likely exceed a Billion dollars across refiners, blenders, and importers. No refiners have currently accounted for this potential loss in their quarterly or 10k earnings.
Worse than the unexpected retroactive losses, is the future uncertainty this policy could cause for all US refinery production and imports. Setting the precedent that RVO costs can be retroactively changed makes it impossible for any refiner or importer to know the actual cost of production for their refined fuels. This creates an unintended incentive structure that will reduce refined product imports to the US, will increase exports from the US, and will decrease domestic gasoline blending. This will raise the prices of gasoline and diesel for every consumer in the US. I can almost guarantee you that the EPA has not considered these knock on effects.
The EPA’s “approach two” would reallocate 100% of excess SRE volumes to 2027. This would cause zero retroactive losses for refiners and would remove the uncertainty that would drive up prices for all US consumers. Furthermore, a 100% allocation to 2027 would have a nearly identical impact on future RIN values and maintain the same incentive structures for investments in renewable fuels in the US.
I strongly encourage every shareholder in US refineries and every US consumer that wants lower gasoline and diesel prices to provide comments to the EPA recommending they choose “approach two” and reallocate 100% of RINs to 2027 with zero retroactive costs to 2026. #oott
