to Kasia who you walked past in a hurry outside the House of Commons Committee Room so you could ensure the Bus Services Bill 2025 got through the Parliamentary process. @andyburnham @stephenctimms @Heidi_Labour @LordBlunkett
.@andyburnham pls act on Kasia’s message @10DowningStreet ‘You cannot make floating bus stops accessible because they are inherently wrong. There is nothing that can be done & the only way to make bus stops accessible & buses accessible is placing bus stops back on the pavement’

The UK has 143 registered abattoirs, yet the Food Standards Agency keeps no permanent register of halal slaughterhouses and requires no separate approval for halal methods.

For who @SadiqKhan? Biggest transformation against those people who rely on buses & black cabs to get where they need to go. You’re out of control when it comes to ensuring London is accessible to all. It’s like you skipped understanding the importance of the Paralympic Legacy.
A new era for the nation’s high street 💚
Nearly a kilometre of Oxford Street will become traffic-free from Monday - marking the start of its biggest transformation in a generation.

We had such outrage for one building burning down.
But silence when Google illegally chops down an entire forest.
Even though that has done far more harm.

It was only a matter of time before native people went crazy and started killing those they perceive as the enemy. Politicians and judges will be next according to research.

It was entirely predictable that Labour's stupid housing policies would backfire spectacularly and lead to fewer homes being built. But let's not forget that many of the most damaging measures were introduced by the fake-conservatives. telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

How are the elderly or people with mobility issues supposed to access shops on Oxford Street after pedestrianisation? Many of them can't use the Tube, which involves long walks, climbing stairs and potentially being jostled by ill-mannered passengers.

Your regular reminder that, if you’re a shared owner, you have no option to challenge the rent increases you’re required to pay. Your rent will continue to rise above RPI every year.

Same trap here, with the added curse of shared ownership. Service charge was £6k last year - with no amenities.
Remediated or not, these 1-bed flats will remain unsellable as @mtpennycook continues to fund newbuilds marketed with underestimated first-year service charges of £2k.

Calum thinks there are multiple reasons.
Firstly, the property, built around 20 years ago, has issues with cladding.
It also has service costs, ground rent and other fees totalling over £4k a year.
Thirdly, the market is saturated with the type of property he is trying to sell

We tell migrants we are sending them home but don’t detain them. This is silliness. We are such an idiotic country.

I've noticed a trend in "accessible" toilets of them getting smaller. Yesterday I visited a pub with a loo that had just enough space to fit my chair & the toilet. I could just about transfer. But then I went to the British Museum & their toilets are awful, filthy & cramped.

London’s bus services are slower than ever. They are still replacing bus lanes with bike tracks, reducing junction capacity for buses and not bothering to enforce parking in bus lanes.

Indeed Bernie. Bodies lying all over the place here in Europe.
No, wait. The 32,000 is not an actual body count. It’s the result of modelling by Imperial College on the basis of several dubious assumptions.
People did die of heat this summer. They usually do when it gets v hot e.g 1976, 2003. The exact number is not clear.
But even if 32,000 was a real figure we know for sure many, many more will die of cold this winter. They always do.

Laffer curve latest: big increases in the tax burden have reduced tax revenues as companies have been pushed into bankruptcy.
Business insolvencies rose 39% between 2019-20 and 2025-26 as higher taxes and soaring costs caused firms to collapse. HMRC lost £13bn as a consequence.
Nimesh Shah of accountants Blick Rothenberg said: “The UK tax burden is at its highest levels in modern peace time and changes to tax, labour laws and the minimum wage increase have added significant burden to businesses".
“The irony is that the Government increasing the tax burden has had the effect of increasing HMRC’s tax losses.”
