Hon’ble Ministers Shri @AshwiniVaishnaw and H.E. Mr Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation, co-chaired the 2nd India-EFTA Prosperity Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Shri @JitinPrasada also addressed the summit.
The Summit brought together India and the EFTA countries to further strengthen trade, investment and economic partnerships and advance new opportunities under the India-EFTA TEPA.

Both leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of 🇮🇳-🇨🇭 relations and discussed ways to further deepen bilateral cooperation in trade & investment, innovation & AI, military exchange & defense production, nuclear energy, S&T and people-to-people ties.
They noted the positive momentum generated in economic cooperation by India-EFTA TEPA and reaffirmed the commitment to advancing an innovation-led partnership.

Spoke at the G20 Trade Ministers' Meeting session on 'Structural Excess Capacity and Production'.
Highlighted that distortion arises where concentration follows hidden subsidies & support, and that India addresses dumping and predatory pricing through WTO measures such as antidumping & countervailing duties, based on evidence.
Underscored that on the issue of excess capacity, a common, evidence-based understanding is essential, and capacity expansion driven by legitimate development needs should be recognised accordingly.

At the G20 Trade Ministers' Meeting Session on the Most-Favoured-Nation Principle, I stressed that the MFN treatment guarantees that the smallest trader receives the same terms as the largest.
Underlined that India cannot support making MFN conditional on obligations chosen by some members of the WTO. Also reiterated that as we strengthen the multilateral trading system, preserving this balance can reinforce confidence, predictability & inclusiveness.

At the #WTOPublicForum, on 17th Sept India 🇮🇳 convened a discussion on “Digitally Delivered Services – Towards an Inclusive AI Economy,” exploring how equitable access to #AI infra, datasets and digital services can help bridge gaps and advance inclusive growth in global trade.
India 🇮🇳 organized session on “Integration of cross border payments systems” at the Center Stage of @WTO at #WTOPublicForum. PR and Amb of India Dr Senthil Pandian C. opened the session setting the context of high cost of cross border payments affecting remittances and MSMEs.
Panellists discussed how cross-border payment integration can boost services trade and development, drawing lessons from Nexus Global Payments and India’s UPI. @WTO’s role in facilitating recognition of payment systems was also explored, along with engaging audience discussion.
Amb & PR of India 🇮🇳 participated in a #WTOPublicForum session on “What is the Role of the WTO?” He highlighted support for a rules-based MTS, collectively agreed by all Members, where every Member—large or small—has a seat and a genuine voice in shaping global #trade rules.
