June has been unexpectedly a very grateful month. Third article on AI and geopolitics :)
Happy that I pursued an idea that might have its way: India needs an AI dimension in its Act-East Policy.
Glad to have co-proposed some ideas on this industry policy pivot with @AVIRAL96

I would neither ask what will Sarvam do from their extremely asymmetrical resource support they are getting, nor would be an early cheerleader.
Everyone can cook. The media should stop obsessing over 1 company for now. I am being honest.
Sarvam is expected to launch a trillion parameter model in the next six months, a significant leap from its existing billion parameter models.
Of every $100 invested in Indian-language AI this year, $87 went to Sarvam. It raised $345 million across two rounds in 2026, out of the $399 million that went to all Indic AI startups put together. Investors are backing the one company they believe can become India’s answer to the frontier labs. Sarvam is also one of the government’s four sovereign model picks,
The rest of the field is building too. Soket is working on India’s first open-source 120 billion parameter model, and Gan AI on a 70 billion parameter multilingual model. via @bsindia
In fact, The Ken actually reported state of AI/digitisation in Government. Read this:
India’s AI vendors can build copilots. That’s not enough to fix 50 years of govt data - The Ken share.google/W6qt6lq2tGKRdWV…

Glad this post is getting traction. I am tired of telling people to go through some pages of the UP AI Report (indicpacific.com/upaiact).
Understand this in simple language: many of the recommendations and policy analyses we did was the homework that neither the Central Govt nor the State Govt did. You have to sell better aspirations and pontificate upon it every day as if you have to go to the gym every week. It’s kind of like that. You have to be aspirational.
So for a 33-people contributory effort, to brush it off by saying it is too long, just simplification to ensure ease of doing business is everything is enough - are lazy arguments.
I had no incentive to do it.
@deepanshuS27 and @AKLKO1977 pushed me to pursue this report, and we brought it to the finish line.
Just respect it, maybe. Respect those 33 people who collaborated from various parts of the country. Nobody does.

Oh, I think I know why Indian RW hates UP AI Report.
"It doesn't deify UP Government"
"UP is a loser dehat state, who gives a damn if someone made a report on it"
"Ye dehati kya analysis karenge"
Ironically it is a pan-India collective report.
Thank you for being stereotypical and honestly - idiotic. It only reeks how both LW and RW are at times not always mirrors to one another in their actions.

I am vindicated again that the trilateral is back. The honorable MP from Lucknow himself is saying it, kind of:

I mean it was obvious by now.

Civilized societies prioritize saving human lives, maximizing their happiness, and minimizing their fears. Many dog owners spend time and money to train, vaccinate, and neuter their pets to live responsibly in their societies.
On the other hand, the so-called "dog lovers" of India only want to feed and pet the strays without being responsible for the trauma, deaths, and accidents on Indian streets they cause. They must give up the selfishness of their low-touch attachment and oxytocin hits to prevent such unfortunate incidents and let municipalities do their job of animal control.
How Indian Twitter judges people easily by bringing a big mic to them before even looking at their genuine work……
Look at the eyes. Yes, it seems like Kamen Rider Maou. 🤣

It’s a pan India contribution from those who want nothing but the state to develop. They are busy folks with their own top notch careers and yet they have given their time.
Please read, it’s a well thought out report.

As a matter of fact code switching should be used as a skill. Rapport management superpower.

Thanks to the TN Philately Passport, I stepped inside Robert Chisholm Hall again after more than 30 years! And of course, I got one, and the first stamp in it was of Maharana Pratap, my childhood hero.
Pro-tip about Lucknow-Prayagraj "diplomatic" relations:
A lot of Lucknow elite behaves like so-called Khan market waalas.
A lot of Prayagraj people do not like elitism of the Hazratganj-Nakkhas elite.
But both of these cities have been the most powerful areas of migration in Central UP since the colonial times until even now (overall I think Noida region is far more effective)!
There is enough data on this by WRI based on the 2011 census.
What does it mean? It means that Prayagraj since divided, since most of its "elites" are not even proper natives unlike Lucknow to a relative extent, it doesn't have a proper political position on issues like industrial policy, economic development.
Look at voting patterns of multiple elections in Prayagraj's constituencies for decades since Mangla Prasad's time / Charan Singh's time, and you will get the pattern.
Divide and rule of policy consensus is what causes problems in Prayagraj, despite far better law and order.
See - I analysed it better than your usual Delhi waalas who will write off these 2 cities as "dehatis", "backward" etc.
