Glad this post is getting traction. I am tired of telling people to go through some pages of the UP AI Report (indicpacific.com/upaiact).
Understand this in simple language: many of the recommendations and policy analyses we did was the homework that neither the Central Govt nor the State Govt did. You have to sell better aspirations and pontificate upon it every day as if you have to go to the gym every week. It’s kind of like that. You have to be aspirational.
So for a 33-people contributory effort, to brush it off by saying it is too long, just simplification to ensure ease of doing business is everything is enough - are lazy arguments.
I had no incentive to do it.
@deepanshuS27 and @AKLKO1977 pushed me to pursue this report, and we brought it to the finish line.
Just respect it, maybe. Respect those 33 people who collaborated from various parts of the country. Nobody does.

Oh, I think I know why Indian RW hates UP AI Report.
"It doesn't deify UP Government"
"UP is a loser dehat state, who gives a damn if someone made a report on it"
"Ye dehati kya analysis karenge"
Ironically it is a pan-India collective report.
Thank you for being stereotypical and honestly - idiotic. It only reeks how both LW and RW are at times not always mirrors to one another in their actions.

Civilized societies prioritize saving human lives, maximizing their happiness, and minimizing their fears. Many dog owners spend time and money to train, vaccinate, and neuter their pets to live responsibly in their societies.
On the other hand, the so-called "dog lovers" of India only want to feed and pet the strays without being responsible for the trauma, deaths, and accidents on Indian streets they cause. They must give up the selfishness of their low-touch attachment and oxytocin hits to prevent such unfortunate incidents and let municipalities do their job of animal control.

Expression of Interest is now open for the ISAIL AI Safety Fellowship 2027.
We're launching our first fellowship to build AI Safety and Governance research grounded in the realities of the Global South, across DeepTech, GreenTech and CivicTech.
We’re looking for researchers, builders, mentors and industry leaders who want to work with us on this.
If this sounds like you, or someone you know, submit an EOI: isail.in/fellowship

It’s a pan India contribution from those who want nothing but the state to develop. They are busy folks with their own top notch careers and yet they have given their time.
Please read, it’s a well thought out report.

As a matter of fact code switching should be used as a skill. Rapport management superpower.

Thanks to the TN Philately Passport, I stepped inside Robert Chisholm Hall again after more than 30 years! And of course, I got one, and the first stamp in it was of Maharana Pratap, my childhood hero.

THE AGI SERIES: Five experiments in understanding what the tech bros have unleashed
For years, Silicon Valley told us AI would cure cancer, solve climate change and make everyone richer. Now, the people building it seem increasingly worried that it might kill us. Which is quite the product update.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been exploring AI Armageddon, Chinese AI, rogue agents, Silicon Valley’s rather Pakistani business model and, most recently, the discovery that even God might have a role to play in saving humanity from its digital overlords.
Five deep dives for The Times of India:

Wrong/Ragebait-ish of a diagnosis by @ashleevance
I’ve been a former VC across 3 different funds over the course of last few years, noting my observations:
1. A developing economy ‘earns’ its risk appetite. Capital follows exits, and India’s first real tech IPOs wave only came post 2020s. Most folks need some early validation before chasing the outlier feats like building rockets. Early venture ecosystem needs proof of outcomes for taking bolder bets and as been on the inside- i can vouch the fervour was never higher for deeptech.
2. But again, India doesn’t have to climb one rung at a time. China also built payments and consumers first, before unlocking deeptech innovations. About 10 years ago it was a 11T economy at 8k dollars per person. Today it’s 19.5T and rules in EVs, manufacturing, and even draws levels with the US frontier AI. India’s GDP/p today is about where China’s was in ’07 and will skyrocket from here. India leapfrog'd to UPI and 5G as well.
3. Investors, labs and industry barely were a tight circle until few years ago. Deep tech needs all 3 on the same page. IIT Madras built the Researchpark early and now we have 567 startups (worth 74,000 crore+). Ather and Agnikul are both IITMRP’s early outcomes.
4. Early proofs are already here. Indian Space-tech is already the proof. Skyroot flew India's 1st privately built rocket in ’22. Agnikul launched from India's first private launchpad in 2024, on a 3D-printed engine. Pixxel has 6 hyperspectral satellites in orbit. And defence-tech firm Tonbo Imaging just got IPO’ed. Ather, Ideaforge and so on the list is building fast.
5. The first wave becomes deep tech risk appetite. eBay bought PayPal in 2002. That year Musk started SpaceX. Thiel co-founded Palantir, then Founders Fund, which became an early backer of SpaceX, Anduril and Neuralink and many others. One exit -> a generation of moonshots.
And we’re ON.
Indian second time entreprenuers are taking moonshot attempts. Deepinder (Zomato) is building aircrafts. Neeraj (CoinDCX) is building reusable rockets. Agrani (AI chips) and Ultraviolette (electric motorcycles). Many $10Mns of stealth rounds in robotics, chips, AI labs have happened over the last few months.
And yes, yes, the noise is loud too.
We’re 1.4 billion people, a young ecosystem. Many won’t get funded, and you’ll hear about it.
But India wouldn’t have to climb one wave at a time.
We’ll skip the waves and we’ll land right in the moment. Extremely LONG on India and it becoming an epicentre of real innovation over the coming decade.
Why are Indian VCs so afraid to take risk and make money?
Someone should go to India and take risk and make money.

All we argued was that we should not adopt a FOMO as Indians amidst a wave of important market corrections in AI-related valuations in the US, and why there exists a geostrategic angle to it too.

Lol, why?
If your AI agents can do everything advertised, why not keep the voice fairly robotic? What is the reason to trying so hard to make these “voices” sound as human as possible?
Deception.
Any why would you want that?
So you can trick people into lowering their guard and letting you further into their lives that they otherwise would.
So you can cheat them.
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence.
