This is the dumbest take I’ve heard all year. And it’s been a crazy year 🤯
Let me dismantle this argument using the same analogy, with one correction.
A family earns 50k (But instead of 5k going missing, 40k disappears - a much closer illustration of reality).
You’re poor. Yes!
But poverty is your condition. Corruption is the biggest problem keeping you trapped in poverty.
That missing 40k is the money meant to fund education, skill acquisition, productive assets, building a business or creating opportunities that would actually help you earn more and escape poverty.
But instead, you’re left with 10k and somehow being told by this lad that your biggest problem is that you don’t earn enough.
Even if you believe him and your income rises to 500k tomorrow, is it not 400k that will still disappear ?
Even scripture recognises that “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much” (Luke 16:10)
Now.
Revenue doesn’t fall from heaven. It comes from productivity, investment and value creation, all of which depend on the very resources that corruption is stealing.
And even if you miraculously generate more revenue, there’s no amount of money that can save you from institutionalized corruption.
We’ve seen people inherit enormous wealth and end up bankrupt because they couldn’t manage what was already in their hands.
If you cannot account for what you already have, earning more simply gives you more to squander.

It is corruption that stifles and destroys the productive capacity of everyone , while denying equal opportunities to every able bodied Nigerians ...
It is corruption, and the deliberate refusal of the current political bandits in power to remove the shackles of corruption, to allow the wheel of productivity to run unimpeded, that hinders productivity and limits the huge revenue generation capacity of Nigeria/Nigerians across the 3 levels of governments ..
EXAMPLES..
1. If we unbundle the NNPC today, by overhauling the whole ownership, operation and management frameworks of that sleezy house of corruption, so as to enable/ allow it function like the NLNG and Petrobras, our crude oil production will move to 4m barrels a day within the next 2 years ,and we will have annual FDI inflows of $20bn to $30bn into that sector ....
The criminal looting of N17trillion/USD$13bn that is supposed to have trickled into the Federation accounts, under the nebulous overhead expenses tagged energy security will be eliminated under such corrupt free / good corporate governance operations of the NNPC...
No one will collect $3bn to repair refineries like Melee Kyari and co did in 2019, wasted the funds and walked away free without fixing the refineries...
If we digitize the operations of the Customs and excise departments,and overhaul that nest of corruption, the over $24bn we lose annually to criminal waivers will be restored and inflow into the Federation accounts..same for NIMASA, NPA, NRS etc ...
The insecurity in Nigeria today are mainly driven by corruption/corrupt factors and elements .....Corrupt connivance, collusion and partnership of the political and elitist bandits to mine and siphon into their private pockets, over $16bn worth of illegally mined and diverted mineral resources annually, that would have come into the Federation accounts .
It is no hidden secret that a huge chunk of the trillions of naira [over $30bn allocated over the last 11 years ] to fight insecurity, procure weapons etc are allegedly stolen and looted into private pockets ....
It is corruption and wickedness of INEC officials, and members of the judiciary, that helped/helps the criminal political bandits/ system to foist dumb looters , who are clueless on how to create wealth, into positions of power they do not deserve...
