We ♥️ saving the bees. But keeping honey bees will not help the 3,600 bee species native to North America. In fact, it might do the opposite. The best solution to bee declines is to address underlying causes like habitat loss. Flowers can support all bees! xerces.org/blog/want-to-save…

My latest storymap features Soft Landings, a concept developed by Leslie Pilgrim and me. This concept builds upon @DLNarango's research on leps and host plants. Soft Landings are diverse native plantings under the dripline of keystone native trees. Link: arcg.is/1Lvry

Found a downed willow on the side of the road and tried to root some stems for the yard hedgerow. It worked!! Willows (Salix) are FANTASTIC super trees for biodiversity. Important early pollen for bees and host plant for hundreds of moth & butterfly caterpillars #nativeplants

Nice! @TKDano in @washingtonpost. You can already see the hate coming in the comments, but all written based in fact. Honey bees are a threat to native pollinators - period. Interested in 🐝 conservation? Build habitat, don't buy bees - of ANY kind! washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

50 years ago, the seed of a simple idea came to life in @NWF's National Wildlife Magazine: people can create impactful wildlife habitat at home. Since then, #GardenForWildlife has blossomed into a nationwide movement to create more wildlife habitats. bit.ly/GFW50Years
