I am deeply appalled by the killing of Ahmed Yaqoub Othman, a volunteer of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, who lost his life on 10 June 2026 on the outskirts of El Obied City, North Kordofan, while providing first aid to people injured in earlier attacks. Ahmed was serving his community with courage and humanity when he was killed. I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones, and to his colleagues across the Sudanese Red Crescent Society. Humanitarian personnel must be respected and protected so they can carry out their life‑saving work safely. Our statement. 👇

🚨New Testimonies Reveal Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya Stripped, Beaten, and Set Upon by Dogs in Israeli Detention Three recently released Palestinian prisoners have provided harrowing testimony about the condition of Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, who has been held in Israeli detention since his arrest on December 27, 2024. Released prisoner Ahmad Qaddas said he initially did not recognize Abu Safiya due to his physical deterioration. He described the doctor spending most of his time “sitting in a daze,” barely able to speak, while fellow prisoners could hear him screaming during beatings but were powerless to intervene — with those who tried to help facing tear gas raids. A second witness, Hamza Abu Omeira, said Abu Safiya suffered constant vomiting, could not keep food down, and was denied medical care. He described seven consecutive days during which prisoners were shackled by both hands and feet. He said Abu Safiya was also reportedly forced to repeat degrading phrases about himself under torture. A third released prisoner said he witnessed Abu Safiya being stripped, beaten after interrogation, and attacked by police dogs that “scratched him and knocked him to the ground.” All three witnesses warned he faces imminent death if not released immediately. Abu Safiya is one of 737 medical workers arrested by Israel since the start of the war, according to Al Jazeera. Source: Palestinian Information Center

Sudan Doctors Network: The number of deceased medical personnel has risen to 235 following the killing of medical laboratory doctor Adel Musa The number of deaths among medical personnel has risen to 235 after the killing of medical laboratory doctor Adel Musa Al-Tijani (Class of 22, Imam Al-Mahdi University). He was killed on the morning of Tuesday, May 5, as a result of a deliberate drone strike carried out by the Rapid Support Forces targeting civilian facilities in the city of Kosti, in White Nile State. This comes amid ongoing attacks affecting civilian areas indiscriminately and worsening the suffering of citizens. The network indicates that medical personnel are among the most affected groups in this war. A total of 511 healthcare workers have been injured, while 84 medical personnel remain detained. Of these, 20 are held in prisons in El Fasher, including 4 female doctors, and 64 are detained in Nyala prisons. These ongoing violations reflect the scale of risks faced by healthcare workers while performing their humanitarian duties. The network affirms that targeting medical personnel constitutes a blatant violation of international and humanitarian law and directly undermines the healthcare system’s ability to respond to the needs of civilians. The network calls on the international community to take effective steps to stop the targeting of civilians and medical personnel and to ensure their protection. It also urges the World Health Organization and other relevant organizations to pressure for the release of doctors detained in El Fasher and Nyala for months under extremely poor humanitarian conditions, with the spread of epidemics and hunger-related diseases. #Sudan_Doctors_Network
