Nothing makes me more bullish about the US than the thought of bringing back nuclear power.
An economy is a machine for turning energy into wealth, and without energy, it all comes to a halt.
Damn the new @RainmakerCorp ad is sick @ADoricko

Should we be allowed to change where God put water in the rivers by building dams? Should we be allowed to store water in man made reservoirs when God would have let that rain run off into the ocean?

We need a bit more shame.
People used to avoid certain self-interested behaviors to avoid shame, private and public. Law and customs assumed this.
Now, 38% of Stanford students claim to be disabled. 40% of young women (under 35) claim mental illness, and SSI disability payments have gone up 400% in a single generation.
It isn't good for anyone, least of all people who are actually disabled, when everyone looks the other way as friends and family and peers con the system with a level of shamelessness no architect of our safety net ever imagined could be possible in America. When everyone is disabled, nobody is.

We’re sharing the next major milestone in our non-invasive brain-to-text decoder research: Brain2Qwerty v2.
Building on v1, which was published today in @Nature, Brain2Qwerty v2 is the highest-performing end-to-end pipeline capable of real-time sentence decoding from raw brain signals. It advances beyond character-level performance to decoding words and semantics, enabling accuracy for overall communication.
We believe this research has the potential to make a real difference for the millions of people who suffer from brain lesions or disorders that prevent them from communicating.

the most valuable thing in sports (and prob society) right now is proof that work still beats the genetic lottery, and Jalen Brunson is the carrying it (literally on his back last night against the Spurs)
the NBA is drowning in size and freak athleticism. wemby is a 7-foot miracle you can admire and never become. JB is listed at 6’2”, generously and last night he dragged the knicks back from 14 down on the road to steal game 1 from the team everyone picked. a whole city (lbh the world) sees itself in him because he’s the one man on that floor you could actually grow into.
everyone’s got the gifts but almost nobody left is living proof that the work alone still gets you to the top.

Happened to me. Prominent guy, but old. I was pitching my in-home senior care startup. Wasn’t sure whether to wake him up or hand him a brochure.
I was once pitching in a board room at a top 3 VC firm for a $15M Series A.
12 people in the meeting. One of the GPs fully fell asleep. Out cold for 30+ minutes. Nobody acknowledged it. Everyone just kept going.
I kept presenting my Series A slides to an unconscious man in a Herman Miller chair and somehow that was considered normal. That's venture capital.
You might fly across the country to perform for people who may or may not be conscious.
It's a dance.
And sometimes you lead and sometimes you follow and sometimes your partner is unconscious.
If you're raising right now, just know: every founder has a story like this. The process is weird. The power dynamic is weird. You're not crazy for thinking it's weird.
No one talks about it because they want to continue raising. But I'm happy to stick my neck out there.
It is weird.
