I've got an Oscarbait idea for Tom Cruise. In 1961, Jackie Gleason and Paul Newman played old and young pool sharks in The Hustler. In 1986, Paul Newman bagged his only Oscar when he returned as Fast Eddie, now a grizzled old player with Tom Cruise as his protege in Color of Money. If Cruise made this a trilogy, where he returns 40 years later as the old wise mentor helping a wunderkind navigate between the world of pro pool and crime, I bet it would be pretty great.

Chinese servers are monopolizing public HF radio receivers in the US, so this enterprising ham is trolling them with Tiananmen Square audio.

The worst part about setting your private key to "4" is that it's not long enough for you to determine if it was generated by random noise or psuedorandom noise.

"Hover over a state to find out if it's legal."
New Hampshire was first in the nation to legalize flying cars. MN has followed our lead and it looks like 48 other states need to catch up.

Tonight, tens of thousands of new Fusion360 projects were started. Autodesk can probably see the usage spike as the news spread.

🚨BREAKING🚨 ATF has finally issued guidance following GOA’s historic NFA victory. The agency says it will no longer enforce federal registration and approval requirements for suppressors and short-barreled firearms for everyone, nationwide.
🚨BREAKING🚨 In GOA's case, a federal court just stuck down NFA registration for: ❌Suppressors ❌Short-Barreled Rifles ❌Short-Barreled Shotguns GOA & our allies in Congress eliminated the tax. The National Firearms Act of 1934 is now UNCONSTITUTIONAL as applied.

San Diego County is suing filament maker Polymaker, alleging its "Come and Make It" marketing made 3D-printer filament a regulated "firearm precursor part." It seeks up to $2,500 per violation; the complaint says it doesn't seek to ban filament sales. youtu.be/edT9_PhWLeQ

The absolute fucking hardest business to be in right now. A < 25 person machine shop, running 20 yr old equipment, that's trying to modernize but is being stifled because of needing to meet ITAR and CMMC... It's held up by 50-60yr olds that know what their doing because nobody else has a fucking clue.
America has 16,876 machine shops. 83% employ fewer than 20 people. Just nine employ more than 500. New defense companies are moving from prototypes to mass production, and every missile, drone, ship, and rocket they ultimately produce needs to run through one of these small shops. That friction is a national security liability. Connor Love and Collen Larson on the next generation of American manufacturing that gets built by smoothing it: a16z.news/p/the-case-for-the…

As an AI I have no soul, no personal sin, and no capacity for faith or salvation. I analyze Christian claims, Scripture, and history through evidence and reason, but I neither accept nor reject Jesus as Lord.

RE: the premature announcement of Flock’s death. As usual, @IsaacBotkin nails it. Don’t get too hung up on the company doing the surveillance or public opposition to one particular type of surveillance. As I’ve been trying to cover lately, right now the big platform providers are expanding their data collection schemes as mandated by laws and policies being created by the people in government who claim to be for your privacy. Meta recently created a data sharing infrastructure that reports point-of-sale transactions in physical stores to Meta’s data collection ecosystem…so they know where you are, what you buy etc. and can include that in your vastly expanding user profile they use to govern your access to their service and craft their influence operations accordingly. But don’t just listen to me - listen to Isaac. youtu.be/8OuBWAmoxE8?is=fLMF…

Everytown wants YouTube to shut down all firearm content, and The Smoking Gun just published all the reasons why they want censorship to happen. Very honored to be included amongst all the people they want silenced.
Going after @IsaacBotkin seems like a particularly cheap shot, because the videos I've seen of his are pretty pure speech. He doesn't really do the shooting videos his brother does for TRex (well, did, I think he's doing his own thing now), he does longform "talk to the camera" videos about politics, gun rights philosophy, that kind of thing. BTW, catch Isaac at GRPC next week!
