The bigger issue is NASCAR spent 20 years making formats the attraction over the racing and drivers. The Chase is a step forward but each race should be a spectacle of its own. A worthy product and compelling personalities shouldn't need a championship sideshow to draw interest

Biggest takeaway from Talladega is how unnecessarily complicated and convoluted the sport has become over the past 20 years. All the rule changes, formats and constant reinvention, all mixed & stacked on top of each other while holding on to what came before.. quite a mess.
