The best time to learn the signs is before they show up. Look for reliable information, and talk openly with your health provider, your friends and the women in your family. Chances are, they’ve been wondering too.

Dr. Jonathan Rosand, the founder of the Global Brain Care Coalition, developed the Brain Care Score as an assessment to help people lower their risk for dementia, stroke and depression. The Brain Care Score measures 12 physical, lifestyle and social factors that impact brain health.
Managing these factors — including stress management, building social relationships and finding meaning and purpose in life — can help prevent the onset of dementia.
Rosand shared with Horizons host William Brangham how doctors and patients can discuss this aspect of dementia prevention.

“A lot of the investment is built around big swings, like things that are going to lead to big cures because that's going to get the biggest profits,” Kolker told Horizons host William Brangham.
