If those two states are defined by religious difference, then fighting will not stop. I say Old Jerusalem should be a religious microstate. The rest of the land should be a secular democracy with equal rights predicated on freedom of religion. With 12 subnational regions.

Depending on your viewpoint, opposing nationalist or legitimist narratives may be compatible or not. Regional evidence at all levels doesn’t equivocate, and there is little debate.

So if it’s unfair to characterise Palestinians as ‘locusts’ or ‘uncultured brutes’, is theirs actually more a culture of brutality brutalised further in the mutual brutality of a frontier territory, lands-made-holy by the sanctified blood of victim endless hostility?

Ceasing the bloodshed will not end the conflict unless changes are made.

Reading these political commentators, I wonder why they think opening up a question counts as settling it. Referendums are contrary to British system of representative democracy. Asking for such a big change on a simple majority basis was never a solid foundation for a decision
Watching PMQs, strikes me once again how grateful we should be to David Cameron for closing the Europe question via a referendum once and for all.

“It’s more important that the decision is settled than the decision is correct” is the refrain of anyone who is just tired of the arcane, esoteric and insulting arguments. Because debates are not settled if the outcome is bad. @lewis_goodall

It’s orange, but is bananas. Does a rose by another name smell as sweet? Do you pile on more manure and not call the smell BS? If it talks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s Donald Duck.

When looking for good governance models, clinicians and healthcare professionals are always a good place to start as they follow the ‘do no harm’ concept established in the ‘Hippocratic Oath’. The Good Governance Handbook has been published since 2012: good-governance.org.uk/wp-co…

Stephen Potter’s seminal works ‘The Theory and Practice of Gamesmanship: or The Art of Winning Games Without Actually Cheating’ and ‘The Complete Upmanship’ examine the line between gamesmanship and cheating. John Beck had copies. teapawt.org/jamesspackman/status/1…

TV is getting destroyed by podcasts. If this is the only way they can get views and attention, you are watching the slow death of the medium.
GB News is absolutely deranged. This is superb.

Speaker Mike Johnson says he wants everybody on the Epstein client list to face justice… Then he shuts Congress to prevent a vote on releasing the list… The way he talks, you might be suspicious he’s on the list. vm.tiktok.com/ZNdukaJx8/

It’s also unclear how exactly Epstein got hired by Les Wexler in 1987, but by 1990 he had ousted the previous director in a series of corporate moves, which trace back to the 1985 contract killing of the Victoria Secret owner’s attorney, Arthur Shapiro. en.reseauinternational.net/u…

As the world tries to comprehend the deadly turn of events which apparently brought Islamic terror to the heart of Russia bbc.com/news/world-europe-68… What is clear is that Russian paranoia translates Allied warnings as a threat. Comments now theorise IS is a CIA front. MFAttitude!

…the underworld power shifts are most dramatic where trafficking routes are most consequential. Thus, Aliyev waving off a rival’s heir-designate on their final journey sounds like he almost knew what was going to happen …and planned it with Khameini!

Moscow’s repression of trans-national Islamist thought has coincided with growing radicalisation of a growing Muslim population. But underground influence shifted after the 2013 assassination of Agalov ally, the Yazidi Vory Aslan Usoyan, known as ‘Baba Hassan’.

Man City’s cheating is an existential challenge to the Rule of Law, Human Rights and Democracy. Just like Cheating Chelsea’s cheating before them.
Ideologically, cheating is a fundamental aspect of Putin’s ‘Chekist’ doctrine. State-sponsored and state-authorised cheating is the enemy of the ‘Rule of Law’ and individual human rights. The belief system traces back to the KGB’s Lubyanka HQ in the Kremlin.

Putin gives kickbacks as standard too. Global finance provides parallel systems to bypass rules. Why wouldn’t ManCity’s autocratic owners do the same?
Replying to @JamesSpackman
Indeed, when Putin recognised his mentor Vladimir Litvinenko’s contribution to the Russian mining industry, it included state honours ...and 21% ownership of Phosagro, widely seen as a kickback in exchange for services rendered. forpost-sz.ru/en/a/2022-12-2…
