Can't say this enough; Elon Musk's menace to democracy is intolerable. He's using the largest & most influential platform in the democratic world to stoke racial conflict and civil breakdown - in his own posts & what X promotes. Democracies can no longer ignore this.

NEW: B.1617.2 is fuelling a third wave in the UK, with not only cases but also hospital admissions rising.
Vaccines will make this wave different to those that have come before, but it remains a concern, and one that other countries will soon face.

In product reviews, these questions can reveal a lot about the team's rigor:
1) How critical is this problem for customers?
2) What alternatives did you consider & reject?
3) Do we have data that helps predict how users will react?
4) How are you going to get user adoption?

I looked at London Covid admissions today & they made me cry.
We've been admitting a medium sized hospital worth of Covid patients EVERY day for 3 weeks.
KCL hospital is one of London's largest at 950 beds.
On 6th Jan we admitted 977 Covid patients.
What have we done?

On that note, if you've got kids, consider paying for some apps for them too. People will buy their kids a £5 magazine but won't pay for apps that give hours of joy and entertainment. The best products don't come free.

Love this. What a great idea perfectly pitched by Luke O'Reilly.
Q2: Copywriter Luke O'Reilly created a particularly popular social distancing poster for Guinness, an off-the-cuff spec project that wasn't associated with the brand. What are some impactful social distancing/health-centric messages you've seen, official or otherwise? #AdweekChat

I can’t overstate this:
Lombardia, Madrid & New York all on worse trajectories than Wuhan. London may be but we don’t have the data.
Wuhan remained locked down for two months.
Huge Western cities could stay locked down for months because they acted too slowly.

Here’s our newest chart, tracking death tolls in cities & regions:
• Wuhan was ground zero, but Lombardia has overtaken it as worst-hit region worldwide
• Madrid could be worse than Lombardia, and New York’s death trajectory looks steep
