Watching the @globalnews and am bothered by what is not said. ’Cos clearly a lot of folks get their science education from TV shows and not school. #EveryChildMatters #OrangeShirtDay #NDTR #TruthAndReconcilliation

BC election data shows 52% of voters stayed home. Global data shows all things being equal proportional elections have higher turnout than systems built solely on single-winner-ridings, because proportional representation means everyone feels they have a voice.

Only 48% of BC voters supported the BC Conservatives, yet the voting system has handed Lorne Doerkson's Conservatives 69% of the seats and 100% of the power. fairvote.ca/25/10/2026/bc-co…

Charles Kushner, Jared’s father, pleaded guilty to 18 counts of tax evasion and witness tampering. He hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, filmed it, sent the tape to his sister. Trump pardoned him and made him ambassador to France and Monaco. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charle…

Jared Kushner exposed for taking $2 Billion in bribes from Saudi and the UAE for “influencing US Politics and striking a deal to end the war in Gaza.” Plus an additional $1 Billion for “his personal benefit.” Justice will not be served if this is not investigated. First Lady Melania Trump is claiming credit for a ceasefire in Russian-occupied Oleshky, southern Ukraine. But the Vatican says it was Pope Leo XIV who phoned Putin on Oct. 16, while still in hospital after lung cancer surgery, and asked for a truce to get food and aid in. The Kremlin confirmed the call. Secretary of State Cardinal Parolin says the initiative was the pope's. As @thedailybeast notes, it's reminiscent of 2016, when Melania said she wrote her RNC speech "with as little help as possible," only for whole passages to turn out to mirror Michelle Obama's 2008 convention speech.

The BC Conservatives promise $11.1 billion in tax cuts despite projecting massive deficits. Businesses would receive hundreds of millions in tax exemptions, while ordinary British Columbians could face the consequences if reduced revenue leads to cuts in essential services. #bcpoli #cdnpoli Imagine your child waiting months for medical treatment because hospitals lack resources. Your child's school losing classroom support. Your rent climbing because affordable housing projects have been delayed. These are the risks families could face if the province struggles to fund public services. Even more concerning, the Conservatives plan to take $2 billion from BC's $5 billion emergency contingency fund and count it as savings. That money is set aside for unexpected costs, including wildfires, healthcare emergencies and rising demand for essential services. Imagine a wildfire forcing your family to evacuate. Firefighters need equipment, displaced residents need shelter, and communities need money to rebuild. Reducing emergency reserves doesn't make those costs disappear. It leaves the province with less money set aside to respond. Or imagine your elderly parent waiting in an overcrowded emergency room while hospitals urgently need additional funding. A smaller contingency fund leaves the government with fewer options to address unexpected pressures without borrowing or cutting elsewhere. The Conservatives also rely on economic growth far above independent forecasts. If those predictions fail, BC could collect less revenue than expected, forcing difficult choices between additional debt and reduced services. Economist Jim Stanford estimates their financial assumptions could leave BC with annual deficits exceeding $15 billion. The tax cuts would take billions out of provincial revenue while leaving less money in emergency reserves. If hospitals need more funding, housing projects fall behind or wildfires strike, British Columbians could face the consequences.
BC Conservatives stumble into the election amid leadership turmoil, alleged financing violations, a $122,043 job-for-seat offer, surveillance of critics, Hitler apologia, residential school denialism and reported Alberta separatist links. #bcpoli #cdnpoli

Absolute clarity from David Eby & the BC NDP on where they stand re Public Healthcare That's what I want - a BC Govt that protects & invests in British Columbia's Public Healthcare system Doerkson is using weasel words to obscure plans for 2-tier medicine #bchealthcare #bcpoli
800 health care workers have come here from the U.S. to look after patients, not insurance companies. I’ve committed to tripling our investment to bring even more, and to protecting our public health care system from American-style privatization. That’s how we build B.C. strong.

Having called the election is the excuse. But the Cons tried to force an election 13x … one was avoided by an MPP voting from their hospital bed. The Cons have been asking for this: Eby merely wanted to get a proper mandate. The Cons have twisted this into something it isn’t.

Freeland: The President is destroying the US market. In fact, your stock market is performing worse than the stock markets in Europe or Canada. And all of this for what reason? Because Canadians aren't being nice enough. The end result was doing something that's hard to do... making Canadians angry.

As the Trump administration seeks to carry out the largest deportation in American history, it is removing more and more people to countries they are not from and often have no ties to. It's called “third-country deportation." A 60 Minutes investigation reveals how some of these third countries are forcing deportees back to the nations they fled, places where U.S. immigration judges have ruled they could not be sent because they’d likely face persecution or torture. All-new Sunday.

This probably hits hard if you failed history in high school. Hitler was a far-Right fascist whose party was named the National Socialist German Workers' Party to attract working-class voters. Then he banned the Social Democratic and Communist parties, and sent socialists and communists to concentration camps.
Hitler was a far left socialist. Literally in the name of his party!

Surprise surprise. BC, this is full on MapleMAGA on our doorstop. You think you’re voting for Doerkson but your vote will go to this homophobic racist. Bait and switch by the BC Cons. Don’t let these wolves in.
And there you have it, Aaron Gunn will run to replace Lorne Doerkson. Aaron has even advised his federal riding assoc he plans to step down now that the Liberals have a safe majority to run as leader of the BC Cons. nanaimonewsnow.com/2026/10/2…
