True. I often dress to match my cats. Quite easy, as they're all black. 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

I had a period of trying to read papers across the political spectrum. They all have an agenda- right and left. You’d need to read them all everyday to try and get a true perspective.
You must be joking. I never read the Guardian. However I agree with your sentiments.

Its a rather stupid advert. It makes one of their supposed customers seem vacuous, vain and shallow.

I thought the same. I seem to remember a few years ago, there was an issue with people buying expensive breeds of cat to match their soft furnishings.

'Residential breeding ' as a quiet cash earner is also abhorrent. Countless 'Puppy for Sale' adverts return in order of 8K cash 'tax free ' for typical litter size of quick sale trendy breeds. All under radar and all at expense of homeless rescue dogs. ..So wrong

Sadly, have seen them on barbecue sticks in Peru.
That’s possibly deliberate.

I'd leave this one Jan. It's humour, British humour. I love you dearly but don't get involved in TV ads for goodness sake!

Sticking my neck out but there’s an ad on TV for Sofology which I feel is in bad taste and disrespectful to animals - in this case guinea pigs. The woman chooses one of a colour to suit her sofa. 😡

Please retweet, the stark reality of the council pound system in the UK 💔💔💔 Alice's owner passed away and she was due to be PTS in a council pound on 21 Oct 2026, thankfully a small rescue @8BelowHuskyResc stepped in and she is now safe. 🐾 A LITTLE ABOUT THE UK STRAY SYSTEM 🐾 For those who aren’t familiar with how the UK stray system works, we’d like to explain something that many people are shocked to discover. When a dog enters the stray system, whether found wandering, abandoned or, as in Alice’s case, following the death of an owner, they can face an incredibly uncertain future. Under UK legislation, stray dogs must generally be held for a minimum of seven days to allow an owner the opportunity to reclaim them. After those seven days, if a dog remains unclaimed, they can legally be rehomed, transferred to rescue or euthanised. And yes, sadly, perfectly healthy, loving dogs can lose their lives simply because there is nowhere for them to go. 💔 Not every council pound operates in the same way, and many work tirelessly alongside rescues to find safe placements. However, the reality is that kennel spaces are limited, rescues are overwhelmed and dogs continue to find themselves at risk. The majority of dogs who come into the care of 8 Below Husky Rescue arrive through the UK stray system. Behind every kennel door is a dog with a story. A dog who deserves compassion, kindness and a chance. And sometimes, the difference between life and death is simply a rescue saying YES. ♥️ Everyone, please give a warm welcome to this beautiful lady, Alice. At 11 years old, Alice should be spending her golden years surrounded by love, comfort and security. Sadly, life has dealt this beautiful girl a heartbreaking hand. Alice’s owner sadly passed away, and this lovely girl ended up in the stray system, with a euthanasia date booked for Wednesday 21st October. Thankfully, a pound puller we help often reached out to us, desperately seeking help to save Alice. We are delighted to share that Alice is now safe from euthanasia and will be transported into our care very soon. Alice is described as an incredibly sweet, loving girl with a kind and gentle nature. She is sociable with other dogs and sounds like an absolute sweetheart. However, at 11 years old, Alice has been through an unimaginable amount of upheaval. She has lost her owner, her home and everything familiar to her. She will need a calm, understanding home where she can decompress, grieve and begin to feel safe again. A home where she can enjoy the peace, comfort and love that every dog deserve We don’t know how long Alice spent with her previous owner or what her life looked like before this heartbreaking turn of events. But what we do know is that she was someone’s girl. Someone’s companion. Someone’s family. ❤️ And whilst we can never replace the person she has lost, we can promise her that she will be loved, cared for and given every opportunity to find happiness again. Welcome to the 8 Below family, Alice. ❤️ Your world may have been turned upside down, sweetheart, but your story isn’t over. Your next chapter starts here. 🐾❤️ 8 Below Husky Rescue, UK - REGISTERED BRITISH CHARITY ✅✅✅ On facebook facebook.com/8BelowHuskyResc… On Twitter/X @8BelowHuskyResc Website if you would like to donate, foster or adopt 8belowhuskyrescue.org/ #dogs #adoptdontshop #Huskies #England #Scotland #Wales #NorthernIreland @ConservativeAWF @AlistairCarns @clarebalding @AlisonHammond @GBNEWS @PatrickChristys @NickDixonITV @GMB @thismorning @BBCNews @BBCPanorama @RobbieRinder @UKLabour @APDAWG1 @PeterEgan6 @RSPCA_PATeam @DogsTrust @gsrescueelite @LurcherSOS @daisys_voice @scanme_tukslaw @Tukslaw_scanme @KatieAmess @AndrewRosindell @Jan_Leeming @liamgallagher @rickygervais @JaneFallon @brianblessed @JeremyClarkson @ClarksonsFarm1 @itvnews Below, after her owner passed away, Alice was due to be PTS in a council pound, today 21 Oct 2026. I think they will be shipped off to other parts of the UK and abroad. There are thousands of dogs and puppies for sale on the pet selling sites. Getting rid of pet shops has done no good at all. Anyone buying a puppy or kitten must always ask to see the young one with mum to check welfare. If this is not available, walk away and report them to their local council's licensing department. They are breaking the law. In the 6- 7 years I have been campaigning re breeding and animal cruelty in the UK, I have wondered if the breeding of dogs for big pharma has made it harder to get new legislation that would protect dogs and possibly highlight the plight of the dogs in those massive big pharma breeding kennels eg MBR Beagles , Cambridge , UK. MBR Acres is a commercial beagle-breeding facility in Wyton, Cambridgeshire, owned by Marshall BioResources. It breeds around 2,000 puppies a year for laboratory testing. It is the target of Camp Beagle, a 24/7 grassroots animal rights protest camp operating outside its gates since June 2021. [1, 2, 3] Facility and Operations Location: Sawtry Way, Wyton, Cambridgeshire (PE28 2DT), just outside Huntingdon. Ownership: Operated by Marshall BioResources (Marshall Farm Group Ltd), an American supplier. Scale: Produces roughly 2,000 beagle puppies annually, selling them to laboratories at about 16 weeks old. Legal status: Operates legally under Home Office establishment and project licenses via the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986. [1, 2, 3, 4] Welfare Concerns and Uses Housing conditions: Dogs are kept inside windowless industrial sheds on concrete floors without natural light, grass, or outdoor access. Testing and procedures: Puppies are sent to labs for toxicology and inhalation experiments. Harvesting: Licenses also allow terminal blood sampling, cardiac punctures, and organ harvesting @FreeMBRbeagles #animalwelfare #Beagles @ConservativeAWF @liamgallagher @PeterEgan6 @rickygervais @JaneFallon @DrBrianMay @DefraGovUK @GBNEWS @PatrickChristys @NickDixonITV @BBCPanorama @PETAUK @AlistairCarns @RobbieRinder @clarebalding @AndrewRosindell @KatieAmess @JerryGreenDogs @gsrescueelite @daisys_voice @scanme_tukslaw @Tukslaw_scanme @domdyer70 @brianblessed @sally_lindsay @Jan_Leeming #England @ChrisGPackham

Please retweet, New Hope Animal Rescue #KENT #UK 'Yesterday we undertook a big rescue and took 28 dogs in at once. 21 Oct 2026. 💔💔💔💔💔💔 It was quite a day but that’s 28 lives saved and the first bit of giving them the life they deserve complete. Some of these poor dogs aren’t in great condition physically, several have skin and eye issues. Lots are still full of milk and clearly have not long had puppies and lots have clearly had lots of litters in the past. Some are just terrified and have clearly not seen a lot in their lives. Some were younger and don’t know life out of the sad environment they were born in to. They all wanted reassurance and love so badly but at least that’s what they’ve got to come. It’s a huge weight and responsibility to ensure all these dogs are correctly placed into the right forward rescues where we can guarantee they will get everything they need, both medically and emotionally and go on to have the life of love and safety they so thoroughly deserve. It takes a lot of time, thought, liaison and organisation to make sure this happens and that they get delivered where they need to go safely. Receiving the dogs, checking them all over, checking through paperwork, settling them all in, making arrangements and agreements with the right forward rescues for each individual dog, and sorting and funding the transport runs for so many is quite the mammoth task. Thankfully we have an amazing network of trusted rescues that help us and it’s because of them we can undertake such big operations, not to mention our incredible drivers. It’s an honour to be able to help so many deserving dogs and warming to know they now have a chance at great lives. For me there is always an underlying sadness that they are in the position they are in and some of the trauma they are feeling just leaks into you, but that will dilute as they flourish in their new lives. Please bear in mind these dogs are not ready for rehoming and we wont be able to respond to rehoming requests or requests to find out where they are, they are at the very start of their rescue journey and wont be ready for new homes for a while. They need to heal physically and mentally. Our job was to get them safe, sorted and onto the very initial bit of their rescue road. They will remain will us for a short period before heading to their forward rescue spaces where the start of their new life begins. You guys that support us make this kind of thing possible, we’re thankful. Also a big thanks to the hands on help we received yesterday, our transporters who are now all very busy this week and our network of rescues who are stepping in to help us with this lot ' New Hope Rescue Canterbury England UK Donations welcomed 👇👇👇👇newhopeanimalrescue.org.uk/ Please also share on facebook facebook.com/NHARescue #dogs #adoptdontshop #England #Scotland #Wales #NorthernIreland @ConservativeAWF @AlistairCarns @clarebalding @AlisonHammond @GBNEWS @PatrickChristys @NickDixonITV @GMB @thismorning @BBCNews @BBCPanorama @RobbieRinder @UKLabour @APDAWG1 @PeterEgan6 @RSPCA_PATeam @DogsTrust @gsrescueelite @LurcherSOS @daisys_voice @scanme_tukslaw @KatieAmess @AndrewRosindell @Jan_Leeming @liamgallagher @rickygervais @JaneFallon @brianblessed @JeremyClarkson @ClarksonsFarm1 @itvnews Small British Rescue organisations left to pick up the pieces and cope with the heartbreak caused by unscrupulous breeders.
