Politics is downstream from culture. Therefore, commit your life to Jesus. Read your Bible, go to church more than 2 times a month, serve, and make disciples. Change the culture, but do it for Christ.

My coworker spent one year in Tennessee. He came back to Tokyo two months ago. He is not the same man. He says "y'all" in meetings. To our boss. He holds the door for the entire floor. Twelve people. Every morning. He asked the convenience store clerk how her day was going. She had to sit down. He calls every man "bud." Including the CEO. He refuses to describe anything under three hours away as "far." He waves at drivers who let him cross. One driver waved back and almost hit a pole. Last week, he told a junior employee, "I'm proud of you." She went to the restroom and cried for ten minutes. We thought it would wear off. It didn't. It's spreading. Three people in accounting now say "y'all." The junior employee holds the door. The convenience store clerk asks HIM how his day is going. Tennessee, I don't know what you did to him. Please do it to the rest of us.

I’ve been intrigued by Peter Thiel’s thinking around the antichrist since I first encountered it at the end of 2022, when in the midst of COVID, The Pamphleteer was starting to get its sea legs. So, it feels like something of a full circle moment for him to come to Nashville to discuss the topic at length. It’s never been more pertinent either. Dominating the current news cycle are attempts by frontier labs to paint artificial super intelligence in apocalyptic terms, demanding a coordinated government response to fend off scenarios that could result in human extinction. This line of argumentation is familiar to all of us by now, as it colored the coordinated response to Global Warming, COVID-19, and even the employ of nuclear power. These lectures grapple with how civilizations respond to rapidly advancing technologies like ASI. Thiel frames this dilemma, in Christian terms, as a choice between Antichrist and Armageddon. In other words, do we coordinate a global response to ASI in order to squelch its civilizational death grip, building out the infrastructure that could create the conditions for the emergence of an authoritarian, Antichrist-like figure. Or, do we do nothing, refuse to fall prey to the hysteria, and allow the technology to run its course, chancing Armageddon. β€œThe way the Antichrist would take over the world is you talk about Armageddon nonstop,” Thiel told Ross Douthat in a NYT interview last year that's been floating around the past few days. How the country responds to and facilitates the development of ASI is one of the two or three most pressing questions facing the Western world right now. His four-part lecture series scheduled over consecutive Mondays will explore these dynamics in depth, away from the insular world of Silicon Valley, in Nashville, the emerging cultural epicenter of the country.
πŸ›οΈPeter Thiel is coming to Nashville to deliver his four-part lecture series on the Antichrist. As the war for AI rages and parties push for regulation to ward off Armageddon, his thoughts have never been more pertinent.

Jeremiah 18:8 "and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned." It is crucially important that you turn away from sin and start obeying the commands of the Lord.

The DSA wants to dismantle our republic to advance their radical agenda. The Electoral College is just in the way.

Shoutout to the people that do the awkward little jog when a car lets them cross the street. You are not moving any faster, but the effort is beautiful. I see you. I respect you.

Drones recreate the Twin Towers, with 2,977 lights, one for every soul lost on 9/11/2001. What a profound and fitting memorial.

Some days the weight and gravity of my sins sits heavier than others. I’ve committed some pretty egregious sins both before coming to Christ and while walking with Him. The fact that He knew this, yet died for me anyway should bring me to my knees daily, yet it doesn’t. I take His love for granted. I abuse grace. I want His love for me to be primary motivation behind my obedience to Him. God get me there. Help me Lord live up to my calling. You laid down your life for me, the least I could do is live for you. I love you Jesus. Help me love you more. β€œFor the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.” -2 Corinthians 5:14-15

It's hard to believe that 25 years has passed since 9/11, a day I will vividly remember. I turned on the television not long after the second tower was hit and stood in my living room and watched as the buildings fell. #NeverForgetSeptember11AttacksOnAmerica

The thing keeping you up at 3 a.m.? God isn't distant from it. He's more invested in it than you are. "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7). Name the worry β€” then hand it over.

For all the things that divide us, grief is a universal language and a defining part of the human experience. At some point, every one of us will love someone we have to say an earthly goodbye to. I am still learning how to walk through each day carrying the grief I feel for my Charlie. Some days I have a vague understanding of God’s plan, others I don’t, but I trust Him completely. He is my only strength. I also know grief can be lonely, and sometimes hearing someone else put words to it makes us feel a little less alone. I wrote this for anyone who has lost someone they love, anyone sitting in grief now, and anyone who someday will. Suffering does not get the final word. Only God does. My reflections on grief, one year later: nytimes.com/2026/09/07/opini…
