Outbox Pattern.
A very important system design pattern every software engineer should learn to implement if you care about building reliable systems.
Letโs take a payment system, for instance.
A user makes a payment. Your application successfully debits their account, but before it can publish the payment event to Kafka or RabbitMQ, the application crashes.
The database says the payment was successful, but the event that should notify other services was never published.
Now, your notification service, transaction history service, or reconciliation service might never know that the payment happened.
This is where the Outbox Pattern comes in.
Instead of updating the payment record and publishing an event as two separate operations, you save both the payment update and an event record in an outbox table within the same database transaction.
A background worker then reads pending events from the outbox and publishes them to your message broker.
If the application crashes, the event remains in the database and can be published when the system recovers.
Another example is in a distributed system.
Imagine an e-commerce platform where a customer places an order. The order service needs to notify the inventory service, payment service, and shipping service.
If the order is saved successfully but publishing the event fails, the other services might never know that the order exists.
With the Outbox Pattern, the order and its corresponding event are persisted atomically. The event can then be delivered and processed asynchronously.
Of course, you still need to handle duplicate delivery through idempotent consumers, retries, and proper event-processing guarantees.
The key idea is simple:
Never rely on a database transaction and a separate message broker operation succeeding together by chance.
Persist the business change and the intent to publish an event atomically, then deliver the event reliably.
If youโre building payment systems, fintech applications, e-commerce platforms, or microservices, learn this pattern.

And this is the ignorance with you guys. Iโve seen more movies than youโve seen anime yet youโre the one talking with confidence..
โYall just cant stand slow paced dialogue, always ridiculous power fightsโ
Every anime fan knows you donโt even get good fight scenes. We literally celebrate when we do, we have to imagine half the fight scenes.. do you even know how difficult it is to animate a fight scene? Weโre here for the plot.
Bring movies with better than this.. Iโll wait.
And I have more if you want.

The Pragmatic Programmer is one of those great books every developer should read at least twice.
In this article, I share some of the main takeaways from the book to give you a quick overview of what itโs all about.

I recommend everyone to just watch this video and focus on Leo Messi.
I'll not say anything more.

Iโm excited to finally announce the newest edition my Stanford course ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป ๐ฆ๐ผ๐ณ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ. It has been 9 months in the making.
Last November, with the release of Claude Opus 4.5, coding agents experienced a step function improvement in capability. We all felt it. The LLMs were more powerful, could reason for longer, solve harder tasks.
This yearโs iteration of my course reflects the 2026 metamorphosis of software engineering.
My core belief is simple: AI-native developers of the LLM era are going to become the most important members of any software organization. I have designed my course to train this next generation of engineers.

First, 85% of my Fall 2025 class material is being thrown out.ย The Fall 2026 syllabus reflects the core capabilities AI-native engineers must have: agent skills, advanced context engineering, MCP portals, agent-ready codebase principles, agentic code review, security, parallelizing background agents, software factories, and more.
Second, I am going to teach my students how to have software taste. Every student will be required to ship pull requests to production-grade, real-world codebases. The course is collaborating with the top open-source AI repos who will offer support and mentorship to students on how to meaningfully contribute to their projects.
This has never been done before in any university course so I am incredibly grateful to our OSS Partners:ย @browserbase, @HeyGen, @CopilotKit, @semgrep, @OpenHandsDev, @milvusio, @marimo_io, Pi, @crewAIInc, @warpdotdev, @vercel, @cmux, @arizeai, @UnslothAI, and @anyscalecompute.

Anyone know sites/platforms where founders and startups can apply for grants, funding, accelerator programs, or non-dilutive funding?
Drop the links please
Iโm looking for opportunities for myself too, and Iโm sure plenty of founders following me will benefit from this as well.
Letโs build a proper list.
