Love how many comments this got! Being well liked isn’t his aim. But he’s clearly got a consistently successful investment strategy I’m here to learn not judge people
The primary reason that people hate on David Orr is that he's been wildly successful with unconventional tactics. That's it. He blocked you because he doesn't think twice about blocking people, which is the optimal approach for making money. He's self aware enough to know that bad posters can throw off your game. The risk of not blocking is negatively skewed.

And this
Tobila Systems (4441.T) – Another major distribution partnership! 🇯🇵 Tobila announced today that KDDI, one of Japan’s largest telecommunications companies, will begin offering two of its business products through its Business Port platform: • TobilaPhone Cloud: Cloud-based business telephony, including IVR, call recording, transcription, call routing and integrations. • Sagitore: Corporate phishing and fraudulent-SMS awareness training, using AI to analyse employee responses. KDDI customers can access these products through its online platform or sales representatives, with consolidated billing. Why this matters: Distribution: Tobila gains access to KDDI’s established corporate customer relationships, potentially reducing customer-acquisition costs. Credibility: Another major telecom operator is choosing to distribute Tobila’s products, following the recent J:COM agreement. Diversification: Sagitore expands Tobila’s offering beyond telephone-number intelligence into broader corporate cybersecurity. Importantly, this is a distribution agreement, not a guaranteed revenue commitment. No financial expectations have been disclosed. My view: Another encouraging step in Tobila’s strategy of leveraging major telecom partnerships to scale its higher-growth business products. Link: tobila.com/news/release/p312… Separately, Tobila announced emergency maintenance today after identifying a software vulnerability. Biz, Cloud and Sagitore were confirmed operational, although some other services may be temporarily unavailable. No data breach or exploitation has been disclosed. Shares closed +5.4% today on unusually high volume. The KDDI announcement is a plausible catalyst, although the connection is unconfirmed.

Cybersecurity could be driving interest in Tobila $4441.T More data leaks mean more sophisticated scams, making call protection increasingly essential. Tobila’s fraud database could become a real differentiator when businesses choose PBX providers. newsonjapan.com/article/1511… xitter.cf/joevalue/status/210991…

If you can find both growth and positive industry wide narrative then your IRR has a much greater chance of being higher. e.g. buying picks and shovels data centre stocks that were cheap in 2024 /25 with a view for narrative to reach them created incredible IRR and can exit or trim Same with Cyber security tailwinds now. That's why I love cheap growing businesses with an industry tailwind
Yesterday I asked if narrative drove price, and v/v. To clarify, I believe narrative is a short-term price driver. Over the long term, you really need earnings growth. And its in the data. See below👇to support Graham's "voting machine/weighing machine" anecdote.

The Cayman fund is finally coming together! ☺️ It’s been a huge amount of work figuring out the right providers, jurisdiction and structure, but I’m really happy with where I’ve landed. Meeting my largest client on Wednesday. If all goes well, full steam ahead! 🤞 Exciting times!

It’s an interesting point Playing into human biases / narratives and the greater fool And if you can find opportunities that combine good fundamentals with a trend that you think will / is do well I had that with Santec Holdings (AI / data centres) trading at 6.5x EBIT last year - now in the optics trade And think I have it with a few others including Tobila Systems in cyber security ( < 7x FCF and growing quickly) I think of them as strong industry tailwinds combined with strong fundamentals etc But tend to agree that the narrative probably matters more than I’d like to admit, being a fundamentals driven investor
Ppl think investing is about fundamentals. Sticking to the facts while ppl lose their minds There are some flavor of investing that is actually like this. Special sits etc But a huge - and increasing part of it comes down to which hallucination about the future is the most believable by the majority.

Thank you Xeno! Will continue to keep the updates coming
Always nice to get management insights on a company you own, even if you can't speak to them yourself. $4441.T is a solid business with great management. Emphasizing buybacks is important, as well as making investors aware of the disconnect between FCF and profit.
