Antisemitism is a scourge that we must stamp out. Thank you to @antisemitism for meeting with me today to discuss their work and how we can better challenge this hatred. I will always stand with the Jewish community against antisemitism.

Jackdaw opened. Because the people of Aberdeen voted for it. Because they voted Conservative.
Everybody wrote us off. This is the story of how @DLumsden_MP became the MP for Aberdeen South 👇

📈Inflation has hit 3.5%, piling more pressure on hardworking families. 🧾Household bills are rising. ⛽️Fuel costs are increasing. 🛒The weekly shop is getting more expensive. 🏠And mortgage costs are putting families under even more pressure. When will the Prime Minister accept that his failure to control borrowing is contributing to higher inflation?

Labour’s Jobs Tax has made it more expensive for businesses to employ people especially young people, who across the Borders deserve the chance to get their first job and build their future. Conservatives would halve employers’ National Insurance for 21 to 24-year-olds, making it £1,500 cheaper to employ someone full time on the minimum wage. The Government should back our plan at the Budget to help young people into work and support local businesses.

How can Britain be a serious player on the world stage if it takes two and a half years to approve a single gas project? As @KemiBadenoch said at PMQs today, we have the resources, the expertise and the people. We now need a Government with the confidence to use them.🇬🇧 The Prime Minister must now end the dithering and delay, and lift the ban on all new oil and gas licences.

Abattoirs are vital for our farmers, butchers and rural economy. Their closure can mean longer journeys for livestock and fewer options for farmers to get their produce to market. Reduced competition and higher costs can make it even harder for farms to stay in business and can push up food prices.🚜 I’ve signed a joint letter to the Prime Minister urging him to protect our network of local abattoirs, cut unnecessary red tape, review charges and support investment, while maintaining high animal welfare standards. The UK and Scottish Governments must work together across the border to support these businesses.🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 You can read the full letter below.👇

Tonight, I voted against Labour’s Northern Ireland Troubles Bill because I do not believe it gives veterans the protections from prosecution they need. Our veterans took on some of the most difficult and dangerous jobs to keep us safe and do their duty for their country. They deserve our support and I will always stand up for veterans and armed forces. If you agree, please sign the petition and send Labour a clear message: protect our veterans.👇 backourveterans.com

Our Northern Ireland veterans served our country, they should not have to spend their retirement fearing vexatious legal challenges.⚖️ I've just voted against Labour’s Northern Ireland Troubles Bill because our veterans deserve to live in peace. Ministers promised protections, but I do not believe this bill does enough. I will continue to stand up for those who served our country.🇬🇧

Labour’s Family Farm Tax and Family Business Tax are already threatening businesses built up over generations. Now there are reports of yet another tax raid, making it harder for families to pass on their businesses. These businesses create jobs, support local communities and represent a lifetime of hard work. The Chancellor must rule out further tax rises and scrap these damaging taxes. telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…

How many times can John Swinney mention independence in one speech?👀 🔁INDEPENDENCE: 30x ⛽️OIL AND GAS: 0x 🚜FARMING: 0x 👷‍♀️JOBS: 0x 🚗ROADS: 0x 🏥NHS: 2x 📈ECONOMY: 3x There was no mention of the £5 billion black hole in Scotland’s finances, and little detail on how he will cut NHS waiting times or improve education standards. After nearly two decades in power, the SNP should be focused on fixing Scotland’s public services and growing our economy. Instead, their priority is another divisive independence campaign to distract from their poor record in government.

£62 million spent on new gates at Parliament. And now concerns have been raised that fire engines might not even be able to fit through them!🚒 I raised this in the Commons and called for an urgent investigation.

Cliveden House burnt down in 1849. The architect behind Parliament rebuilt it in two years. Now, Parliament has spent over a decade just planning its own repairs. What happened to the country that built things? 👇

Great to pop into St Mary’s Church coffee morning at the British Legion in Coldstream this morning. Lots of tasty cakes and a great raffle - well done to all the volunteers who give up their time to make these events a success! ☕️ 🍰 🍪

John Swinney went to Aberdeen for the SNP conference and still couldn't bring himself to back Scotland's oil and gas industry.⚡🛢️ He's never short of an opinion on reserved matters, but when it comes to Scotland's oil and gas industry, he suddenly goes quiet. It's time he made his position clear by backing Rosebank and Jackdaw, and standing up for the Scottish jobs and investment these projects will support.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I joined the Countryside Alliance and National Rural Crime Network to discuss the challenges around rural policing. 🚜🚔 One of the concerns raised was the risk of policing resources being moved away from rural communities and concentrated in urban areas. This is a concern we're facing with Police Scotland, where despite crime rising in the Borders, levels remain much lower than in larger urban areas such as Edinburgh and Glasgow. As a result, there's a risk that our communities are overlooked when resources are allocated. Here in the Scottish Borders, we face very different challenges to those in larger towns and cities, and it's important that policing reflects those needs and our communities remain a priority. I'll continue to stand up for our rural communities and make sure we're not overlooked when decisions are made.
