Museveni would have saved country so much drama had he appointed son, Gen. MK, vice president. It is their best, and remaining exit window. No wonder, man is now attacking the wrong people. I sat down with @Joshua_lawel five months ago. I agree, sobriety was the wrong word. youtube.com/watch?v=FluKNLrP…

Uganda's current torture regime is so barbaric, so inhuman, & inexplicable that when @HEBobiwine tried to explain our live reality at the @AtlanticCouncil, @DamonMacWilson had to step in to tell people that he was not exaggerating! Regime apologists waste no second reminding us that "even other governments" torture, & while it is true that a lot of govts actually use some form of torture, I don't know a govt anyway in the world today where people are forcefully disappeared, tortured, & their photos posted on social media! Even Idi Amin actually denied he used torture when he did it, and hid it behind the walls of the State Research Bureau, in Uganda today, photos are posted to Twitter for the world to see; and to not have any doubts!

This is how Minsa Kabanda ‘Nabengo’ made it to parliament! One wonders how a sober election commission official signs such declaration of results forms! Just declare @DavidLRubongoya as the rightful winner of the election as soon as yesterday!

Just 1 month after M7's military tortured @HEBobiwine, @ZaakeFrancis & other opposition leaders to near death in 2018, "Papa" had this to say. His political views have been consistent, we just refuse to hear what we hear and only hear what we want to hear.
Papa, when I was told that you had attended that meeting, I told my colleagues that you were obeying powers and principalities, just as you have always taught us. But when I listened to your submission, I was heartbroken. The fact that it was another pastor who spoke about political prisoners, while you, my spiritual father who leads one of the largest youthful congregations said that “PLU is not known to be an abusive and subversive party,” broke my heart even more. Papa, you know that the young people in your church are informed and intelligent. They have phones. They see the videos of abductions involving men in military uniforms acting under the authority of the very people you were praising. Papa, you teach us to let God fight our battles. Yet at that same meeting, you raised the issue of Gashumba’s statements about our church before PLU leaders in a manner that sounded like you were asking them to take action against him. Papa, you have hurt thousands of young people, including those who may never have the courage to write a post like this. We forgive you. We will still come to church, sit in our usual seats, worship God and listen to your sermons. But Papa, forgiveness does not mean we were not hurt. And remaining in church does not mean we agree with everything you said. @Phanerookampala

Acquitted of treason. Convicted on the spot of a charge he never came to court to answer. Sentenced to 4 years the same day. This was not a verdict on Tundu Lissu. It was the Tanzanian Judiciary's verdict on itself. Rest in peace, Alute Lissu. Read Don Deya's statement 👇🏿. #FreeTunduLissu

Tanzania High Court's ruling acquitting comrade Tundu Lissu of the politically motivated treason charges is a victory against the ultimate weapon of state intimidation. The Tanzanian regime tried to threaten him with the death penalty simply for demanding free, fair, and transparent electoral reforms but failed to prove its malicious claims because truth cannot be hidden by judicial overreach. However, the decision to convict him on the engineered, lesser charge of "incitement" and to sentence him to four years in prison is a glaring reminder of how autocrats weaponize the judiciary to silence legitimate opposition. Convicting him for his rightful defense of democracy - his call for "No Reforms, No Election" - proves that the state manufactured an offense purely to keep a powerful voice of the people locked away. From Kampala to Dar es Salaam, our struggle against generational dictatorships and electoral autocracy remains unified. A cage can restrain bodies, but it can never imprison the spirit of freedom ignited across the region. We stand with you, Chadema, and with you the great people of Tanzania, in rejecting the ongoing persecution. Aluta Continua!
