ALT Allopurinol hypersensitivity syndrome (AHS) is a severe adverse drug reaction. It affects about 1 in 1000 patients prescribed allopurinol, and reported mortality is between 20% and 25%. The syndrome may occur within weeks to months of drug exposure.
Allopurinol hypersensitivity syndrome is a severe adverse drug reaction. High risk populations should be screened for HLA-B*58:01.

Excited to share our new study published in @bmj_latest.
We found no increased risk of hospital admission – as well as other serious adverse outcomes – in infants born to mothers prescribed opioids immediately postpartum.

Opioids are sometimes necessary to manage pain following childbirth.
Our findings offer health care providers and patients some reassurance that the use of opioids after delivery poses few risks to infants.
