A consultation about new guidance accompanying the Down Syndrome Act 2022 has been launched, but it fails to recognise learning disability nurses as a distinct professional group with the expertise to make it work. Have your say, urges @JessicaLDNurse rcni.com/learning-disability…

Read Natty’s experiences of having a blood test in adult services. Sharing this important experience to celebrate Learning Disability Nurses’ Day. @WeLDnurses @SteveHardyLDN @NHSAbility @PCConf @pauljebb1 @JonathanBeebee @PaulaMc007
Today (1 November) is National Learning Disability Nurses' Day. This is the annual day to celebrate learning disability nurses and to raise the profile of their profession. 🧑‍⚕️ As part of Learning Disability Nurses’ Day, our External Relations Officer, Hayley Newman, and her daughter Natty, shared their story of how she overcame her fear of blood tests with the support of a learning disability nurse. You can read the blog here: downs-syndrome.org.uk/news/n… #LearningDisabilityNursesDay

It was great to welcome @trish_hug, @JonathanBeebee, and Simon Browes from @theRCN to Pennine Care. They met with colleagues to discuss the professional nursing strategy, tackling racism and hate crime, and reducing health inequalities for people from diverse backgrounds.

Brilliant and vital blog 👆Learning disability nurses are indispensable. These highly skilled practitioners enable, advocate, educate and fiercely defend the rights of people with learning disabilities. Their presence drives accountability across individuals, communities, and systems, transforming wellbeing in ways that are both profound and measurable. The absence of equivalent specialist roles for conditions like acquired brain injury or autism only underscores their importance. Without RNLDs, the gaps in health care are not just more invisible, it is dangerous. As a practitioner, I’ve experienced firsthand how their expertise elevates my own informed practice. Their role isn’t optional, it’s essential. We cannot afford to look away. 👇#RNLD #LearningDisabilityNursing

#PansPandasHour parents are prey for charlatans. I seen misinformation weaponised & our kids used to monetise influencer's platforms daily. #NHS trusts must adopt working group guidance. No more delays @pauljebb1 @JonathanBeebee @RCN @RCNi_Christine @DoctorChrisVT @DrNighatArif
