The new 'Room of Discovery' at A la Ronde near #Exmouth in #Devon is now open. The space is an interactive, artistic reinterpretation of the 200-year-old Shell Gallery which is closed and too fragile to enter. Come and experience it for yourself: nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/d…

For today's update on the conservation work, we thought you would like to see this detailing on the chapel. Who would have known that years after these oak leaves were carved & set in place, it would be the National Trust caring for the chapel. 😍 📷Stacey Masters #NationalTrust

Marvellously Medieval Lapford Church with probably one of the best carved 16th century rood screens in England, an original ceilure, bench ends plus more. A real beaut. My latest online church if you fancy: bit.ly/3Zdgp7l

🐚Why are there seashells under the floor? 🐚 Investigations in the attics uncovered an unusual material underneath the floorboards: thousands of seashells. A cheap and efficient form of insulation, they fill drafty spaces in the floor and help keep the castle warm.

Over the next few weeks the @UniofExeter & some of our HART volunteers will be taking part in an archaeological dig here at Killerton. There will be 2 main dig sites, a dig just north of the hill fort and a dig in Front Park, taking in an 18th century forge and roman road. 1/3

After sustaining some damage over the past few months, the gardening team collected multiple logs from felled trees of various sizes to repair the Bear's hut floor. Now it's looking wonderful again... and we can't help but think of it as Bear's hut Tetris. 🐻 📸NTI / John Millar
