This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss. The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes. Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment. To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.

It appears that even Christina Smyth, the RGB member who resigned in protest just before the vote, is wary of any obvious collusion in those documents
Thursday morning, Randy Mastro filed a letter to a judge declaring he'd found "substantial" and "shocking" evidence in a tranche of documents City Hall handed over in a lawsuit about the rent freeze. But others aren't seeing what he's seeing. hellgatenyc.com/rgb-lawsuit-…

I visited @cornellsun students at their office last night — and talked with them about the campus rape case they've been investigating for 23 months, and the decision to publish the names of the seven men involved in the lawsuit on their front page. nytimes.com/2026/09/29/nyreg…

"my daughter’s sacrifice could not transform a system that those who hold the most power refuse to change... Black children in New York’s schools, and this nation’s, are as segregated now as they were a decade ago, two decades ago, three. And in profound ways, we’ve actually moved backward..." nytimes.com/2026/09/20/magaz…

A Manhattan judge ordered the city to turn over months of communications between the Mamdani administration and the Rent Guidelines Board — a partial win for the landlords suing to overturn the board’s historic rent freeze. crainsnewyork.com/politics-p…

A hot take, if you will: I don’t think you should be allowed to lose an entire match on a double fault

"My father Michael Massaroli...you do my dad's legacy and the legacy of all these victims no honor by using this tragedy to spread hate. We have seen a medley of people come up today, of all races, all religions, all creeds and this tragedy is just that, it's a tragedy. I've had to grow up and spend the past 25 years seeing people use it to hate on our Muslim brothers and sisters, to hate on people who don't look like them. That's wrong. That does no honor to the victims here...please stop." Full video here: youtube.com/live/Wkl0vAMmU0I…

The Norwood News is controlled by Montefiore Medical Center, the president of which makes $16,639,270 a year, and where other exec salaries look like this. How much does it cost to put out the paper?

On the heels of being named one of NYC's worst landlords by @JumaaneWilliams and @NYCMayor securing a historic settlement over tenant harassment and hazardous conditions, today we announced a major class action lawsuit against one of the largest real estate companies in New York City, A&E Real Estate. The era of impunity for New York City landlords is coming to an end.
