We're heading for an uninsurable future! Yet, most of the world has never had modern insurance. Most rely on networks of care and reciprocity - what David @Graeber_social called small 'c' communism. In unfolding and irreversible global collapse, I call it a @JustCollapse.

The idea of ‘surprise’ is attached to many kinds of collapses—the collapse of corporations, bridges, nation states, economies, natural systems. Yet so often there is information indicating a problem and people who know enough to see it coming. Read more: link.springer.com/book/10.10…

So excited to be launching my new book that I'm starting with my conclusions and working backwards in a series of posts! I conclude by eschewing big political projects (is this wise?) and focusing on how collapse changes ideas of solidarity: "In collapse, solidarity is a ... 1/3

In 'Nicomachean Ethics' Book II Aristotle observed that "it is possible to fail in many ways... while to succeed is possible only in one way (for which reason also one is easy and the other difficult." This was reflected millennia later in the Anna Karenina principle... (1/2)

#talkcollapse - or don't, if you're too chickenshit to be honest with yourself or others: "Noch zögert Iversen, von einem #Kollaps des Ökosystems zu sprechen. Erst möchte er (noch) die Sedimentproben untersuchen, die er ...am Meeresgrund genommen hat." spiegel.de/wissenschaft/natu…

The German climate movement used to be among the most powerful. Then we, too, got flattened by the backlash & the reality of #collapse. But there's a new hope in the darkness: a #justcollapse movement just held its 1st #Kollapscamp. Read our report back: steady.page/de/friedlichesab…

@JustCollapse So collapse is here...
In 1972, the calculations of “The Limits to Growth” produced scenarios indicating that the start of the collapse of the World’s economy would occur during the first decades of the 21st century. These calculations were based on physical factors and, ultimately, on thermodynamics. There is no thermodynamic reason why, when decline starts, leaders should go mad and squander the few remaining resources of their countries on a military buildup. But many historical examples show that it is the case. We are seeing exactly that in Europe. Apparently, we Europeans have the privilege (so to speak) to lead the world’s race to the bottom of the Seneca Cliff. It will be a rough ride. senecaeffect.substack.com/p/…

🫂💔 We feel for each other. Don't stay alone. There's a movement that speaks openly. We are not a cult. Nor are we deniers. We are simply facing the facts because that's the only way to help us. Known globally as #JustCollapse movement. 👉 @JustCollapse
