South America has a 10x better version of every place in the USA, for a fraction of the price.
If you like New York, Boston, or Chicago, go to Buenos Aires. A huge, walkable city with old buildings, great food, and a neighborhood for every type of person.
If you like Colorado or Montana, go to Patagonia. Glacial lakes, forests, and the Andes mountains in every direction, with all the space and privacy you could want.
If you like California wine country, go to Mendoza. The biggest wine region in South America, right at the foot of the Andes.
If you like the California coast, go to Florianópolis or the coast of Chile. Florianópolis for surf towns and island life. Chile for a thousand miles of cliffs and empty coastline.
If you like Seattle or Portland, go to Chile’s Lake District. Volcanoes, old growth rainforest, and lakes everywhere.
If you like Miami, go to Rio de Janeiro. Beaches and insane nightlife. It’s a city built entirely around the ocean.
If you like Texas or the Midwest, go to Paraguay or Eastern Bolivia. Hot, flat, cattle country, cheap land, and friendly people who barbecue every weekend.
If you like the New England coast or the Hamptons, go to coastal Uruguay. Punta del Este is the Hamptons. The towns up the coast are Cape Cod 50 years ago.
There’s a place for everyone. And it all comes with deep affordability.

At a time when Latin American countries are recognizing Delcy Rodriguez and reestablishing ties with Venezuela, the exception once again is... Uruguay.
"Just as illegitimate as Maduro," Uruguay's foreign minister told @folha . "Nothing has changed."
A bit of history: Venezuela broke off diplomatic ties with Uruguay in 2024, after several countries condemned Maduro's refusal to recognize that year's election, which he lost.
Uruguay at the time was run by a conservative, now their president is on the center-left. Therefore, Uruguay's current leadership is not yielding to pressure from the Trump administration to recognize Delcy's government.
"For us, the solution for Venezuela is very clear: Let there be elections, someone wins, an independent court confirms that Maria or José won, and 15 minutes later we will establish diplomatic relations with the legitimate victor," Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin told Folha.

Youth sports observation: All the parents want to sit on the sidelines and bitch about the coach. But none of them want to volunteer to coach. Everyone could be doing a better job. Just like life, business, etc. The person on the sideline always has all the ideas…

This has never been more true. The opportunity cost of endless planning and contemplation just went way up. Agents allow you to just try vastly more stuff, so let them, and you'll learn way more, way faster.

We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

Impecable.
Aplausos.
