He is expected to be released from jail by this evening.

The Meerpet Police arrested & secured judicial remand of accused Golla Laxmi Narayana for stopping Christian religious conversion, for offences punishable with imprisonment not exceeding 7 yrs, without issuing notice under Sec. 35(3) BNSS.
The Magistrate mechanically accepted the remand.
This prima facie violates the binding Supreme Court directions in Arnesh Kumar (2014) and Satender Kumar Antil (2026).
Disobedience of these binding directions may attract contempt proceedings. Who will hold the police accountable for violating the law laid down by the Supreme Court?

NOTE: With due respect, I think you get this horribly wrong, @priyankac19, as do many others. Show me how many (if any) mainstream Indian Muslim politicians have been elected in the last decade from Hindu-majority constituencies. And yes, the reverse is also true, though there are far too few examples of that either.
That is precisely the point: faith, rather than the real issues that Abu El-Sayed has so powerfully raised, has increasingly become central to electoral politics in India. Not to forget, we have a Parliament with not a single Muslim MP from the ruling party and no Muslim cabinet minister.
That is why we need an El-Sayed moment today: a reminder that India’s diversity in society must find expression in its politics too.
And please don’t take us back to an era of nominated Presidents and Vice-Presidents. I am talking about a popular electoral mandate, won in Michigan through a cross-community, cross-class coalition.
Perhaps it is time we looked in the mirror and acknowledged this reality. Hope you agree.

🇸🇦 A Sri Lankan family is pleading with Saudi Arabia to spare 24-year-old Anojan Sivarasa, who was sentenced to death after an online argument ended with him allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad.
The dispute began after a video circulated of a Muslim man kicking a stray dog that had followed Hindu pilgrims in Sri Lanka; after someone insulted a Hindu deity online, Anojan responded with a comment about Muhammad, later deleting it and apologizing.
A screenshot was reportedly sent to his employer in Saudi Arabia, leading to his arrest and ultimately a death sentence.
Sri Lanka is now pursuing further legal and diplomatic avenues to stop the execution, while Anojan’s mother has publicly appealed for his life to be spared.

🚨 SHOCKING: Sri Lankan Tamil migrant worker Sivarasa Anojan has reportedly been sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia over a Facebook comment deemed insulting to Islam and Prophet Muhammad.
He had deleted the comment within minutes and later apologised. His original sentence was 5 years in prison and a SAR 3 million fine, but his appeal reportedly resulted in a death sentence.
Sri Lankan authorities are helplessly pursuing legal and diplomatic efforts to save him.
