I am officially sunsetting this account. It's a hard decision, but I've just found X to be a shell of former #AcademicTwitter. Instead, I'll be primarily posting on @bluesky and am excited to join a robust community on that platform.

At @JAMA_current today, 2 radiologists publish what should be the consent form for a total body MRI in healthy people
Note: "no major medical society recommends whole-body MRI screening in the general population because it is unproven, and the harms likely outweigh the benefits."

Thank you to all who kept our patients, and our #AnnArbor medical campus, safe last night during a powerful storm that prompted a tornado warning and caused these dramatic scenes captured by photographer Kai Petainen.
Even in the middle of the night, our teams are there for all.

Have you heard about young people dying suddenly after COVID-19 vaccination?
Our new study in @PLOSMedicine shows there's absolutely nothing to that. If anything, the opposite is true.

Facts matter. We have offered to extend our current contract with BCBSM. Anything beyond that, we would earn through better access, better quality, and cost performance. Even under our proposal, BCBSM would continue paying us below other insurers in MI: UofMHealth.org/BCBSM

ALT A statement from Michigan Medicine addressing a claim by Blue Cross. It reads: "Blue Cross claims Michigan Medicine asked for a big pay hike. FACT: We asked Blue Cross to simply extend our contract and give us the chance to earn more by delivering high-quality patient care." The Michigan Medicine logo is in the bottom right corner.

RFK Jr’s changes to our nation’s childhood vaccine schedule fly in the face of science and threaten the lives of kids nationwide. This ruling offers a temporary reprieve from the madness, but I’m afraid the damage has already been done.
#Breaking: A federal judge in Boston stalled major parts of health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign to remake vaccine policy in the U.S., saying the Trump administration had likely violated the law. statnews.com/2026/03/16/kenn…
Are you over 18?
Are you your own decision-maker?
Then you need advance directives!
Life is busy and it's easy to let these sort of administrative tasks fall to the wayside.
But if you have preferences regarding emergency medical treatment, who may speak for you if you can't speak for yourself, or where your money will go if you pass away, then advance care planning is the ONLY mechanism to ensure your wishes are carried out.

RFK Jr.’s political power may lie in how he talks about science.
A linguist explains how his rhetoric reframes doubt as common sense, turning skepticism into a political identity (from our sister edition in France):
