This one’s a blast from the past. My very last landing on the 767. Saturday 21 Dec 14. Video taken by a good mate and fellow 767 driver in the back seat. Gee it was an awesome machine!

Well that was a lot of fun. First ‘procedural trainer’ session done on my A350 differences course. Paired up with another trainer (Captain) and we swap seats during the session. So you’ll see pictures from both seats at various stages. Everything feels familiar in a disconcerting way. It’s similar enough that it’s familiar. But there are a few procedural nuances that take some slightly changed procedures. I’m sure it will all come together but sometimes it’s harder to change currently solid procedural flows by ‘a bit’ than just forget them all and learn new procedures. Anyway, motion on tomorrow and we’ll see how that goes! @speedbird020

There are some ppl for whom god/Gods/et al., made other forms of transportation other than airlines! Pax dons life jacket and inflates it during a Jetstar safety demo on annADL>SYD domestic flight. The (sic) “YouTube influencer” is now justifiably on a no-fly list. Again proves the theory that there’s no such thing as an ‘influencer’ … they’re just a narcissistic fool with a social media account. Offload, AFP to meet a/c at gate and perhaps use the federal government’s proposed social media laws to deactivate his account Here endeth the sermon

On Monday I start what I hope will be my last ever type course. In this case it’s considered a ‘differences’ course as technically I’m already rated in Australia for the A330/350. Differences course is three weeks. Intro day and four days of CBT (Computer Based Training). Then two procedural training events and 4-5 simulator training events. Line training is planned for next year sometime in the lead up to when the jet arrives. (There is a bit more to it than that but some finer details are still a bit rubbery).

Crikey but this is awesome! Deserves a very, very wide audience. @InfantryPilot @MCCCANM @F111Driver @speedbird020 @TomcatJunkie
This morning's launch of the SpaceX Falcon 9 with CRS-35 was one of the most spectacular launches I've seen. Totally in awe! My long exposure shots combined into one shot to show liftoff, jellyfish effect, and landing as seen from the NASA Causeway.

All set for another six months. After five weeks annual leave and then being off crook for an additional week it was good to blow some cobwebs out and get some good training and finesse points. Sadly, no flying for a little while as I’ll be the one instructing in the sim in a few days time. @speedbird020

It didn’t look like the timing was going to work, but then, the @LATAMAirlines 787 started rolling on the taxiway, turned onto runway 24L at @flyLAXairport for the crowd at @NYCAviation SPOTLAX2026 rooftop party to capture a perfect sunset shot 😎 – at Los Angeles, CA

Looking forward to being a part of this! Might need to run some people down in the carpark to try and get on the inaugural flight though!
Sydney to New York, non-stop ✈️ We’re excited to announce the first ever commercial non-stop flights between Australia and New York will launch from 2028 as part of Project Sunrise. As demand for travel between Australia and the United States continues to grow, this new route strengthens one of our most important international markets. Together with the launch of direct Sydney to Las Vegas services later this year and Sydney to London non-stop in 2027, it represents a significant step forward in connecting Australia with the world.

The wrong colour flag flys over Bannf in Canada. 🇨🇦 Given that every store I’ve been into, every hotel, shop, gondola, cafe, restaurant has multiple Aussies working there it should surely become an Aussie 🇦🇺 enclave! They outnumber the locals in the service industry by a fair margin.

I was told that only 30% of people who visit Alaska see any part of Denali/ Mt McKinley and that 70% see nothing. So was pleasantly surprised to get this shot yesterday morning.

We were pretty thrilled with that. To be able to see the peak even though the base was partially obscured by cloud. This is supposedly only about 10% of Alaskan visitors. But nek minnit…..

The whole kit and caboodle. Tour guide said best view of the season… and we were the last tour of the season for her mob. What an amazing planet we inhabit. God is so good even with some of the craziness that goes on around the world. @speedbird020

I frequently walk to the economy galley during a daylight flight. It stuns me how many people do not wear their seat belt. It is literally the simplest and easiest thing a passenger can do to keep themselves safe.
I honestly don't understand why people don't just keep their seat belt fastened whilst they are seated, even if the sign is off.

Life achievement unlocked. Have wanted to visit here since the mid 1990s when I flew my first Boeing. Couldn’t help myself with a little pressie and a throwback to my first true Boeing love! @speedbird020
