One of the most compelling parts about working at an ElonCo was the agility to pivot to whatever the most important problem was.
One day I said: I wasn’t hired to go after spam, but a tsunami is coming and I’m going to drop everything to focus on that.
The org is so flat and agile that your title is basically meaningless. Anyone can sound the alarm about a problem and solve it themselves—or rally the team to join them.
This is how startups work but it’s very hard to make it work in a larger company.

Claude is becoming more than an AI chatbot.
The bigger story is the ecosystem being built around models like Claude to create AI agents that can actually perform work.
Think of it as a stack:
1. LLM — The Brain
Claude provides the reasoning and language capabilities.
It can understand instructions, analyze information, write content, make decisions, and reason through complex tasks.
But an LLM alone can’t do much outside the conversation.
2. Tools — The Hands
Agents need tools to interact with the real world.
APIs, databases, browsers, code execution, file systems, and external services allow an agent to actually take action instead of simply generating text.
3. Memory — The Context
Memory allows an agent to retain useful information across interactions.
Instead of starting from zero every time, the system can use previous context, user preferences, past actions, and stored knowledge.
4. Planning — The Strategy
Complex tasks rarely require just one action.
Planning allows the agent to break a large objective into smaller steps, decide what needs to happen first, execute those steps, and adjust when something goes wrong.
5. Orchestration — The Coordinator
As workflows become more complex, multiple tools and agents may need to work together.
Orchestration manages those different components and determines which agent, tool, or workflow should handle each part of the task.
6. Evaluation & Monitoring — The Feedback Loop
AI agents can make mistakes.
Evaluation and observability help track outputs, failures, latency, costs, and overall performance so systems can continuously improve.
7. Safety & Permissions — The Guardrails
Giving an AI access to tools also creates risk.
Permissions, approval steps, access controls, sandboxing, and monitoring help determine what an agent is allowed to do and when human approval is required.
The bigger takeaway:
An AI agent is NOT just an LLM.
It is:
LLM
+ Tools
+ Memory
+ Planning
+ Orchestration
+ Evaluation
+ Safety
The model provides the intelligence.
The surrounding ecosystem gives that intelligence the ability to actually get work done.
That’s where the real evolution of AI agents is happening.
Save this visual for later.

Consciousness researchers accidentally proved the soul exists and internet is still not talking about it.
Dr. Pim van Lommel’s cardiac arrest study aimed to deepen our understanding of brain function during clinical death, not to confirm ancient spiritual teachings. In the process, he reported observations from 344 patients who described clear, continued awareness even when clinical measures showed no detectable electrical activity in the brain.
The Lancet published his findings in 2001. 18% of clinically dead patients reported detailed awareness of their resuscitation procedures, conversations between medical staff, and events in rooms they couldn't physically perceive. Their hearts had stopped. Their brains had shut down within 10 seconds. According to materialist neuroscience, consciousness should have been impossible.
Van Lommel accidentally proved that awareness operates independently of neural tissue.
The scientific community's response was silence.
Dr. Ian Stevenson at the University of Virginia spent 40 years investigating children who spontaneously recalled previous lives. Over 3,000 documented cases. Children describing names, locations, relationships, and private details from lives they couldn't have known about through conventional means. Accuracy rates that exceeded statistical probability by orders of magnitude.
In Lebanon, a two year old accurately described his previous life as a mechanic in a village 25 miles away. He knew his former wife's name, his children's names, the location of his workshop, and identified personal belongings when researchers took him to the village. The family confirmed every detail, including information never made public.
Stevenson wasn't trying to prove reincarnation. He was investigating anomalous memory phenomena. His research accidentally demonstrated that memory storage transcends biological death.
The academic response was to ignore four decades of peer reviewed documentation.
Dr. Roger Sperry won the Nobel Prize for split brain research that accidentally revealed consciousness as something beyond neural activity. When the connection between brain hemispheres gets severed, patients become two separate conscious entities sharing one body. Each hemisphere demonstrates independent awareness, preferences, and decision making capabilities.
Sperry showed that unified consciousness isn't produced by the brain but operates through it. When the biological interface gets damaged, the underlying conscious entity fragments while remaining functional.
His findings support exactly what spiritual traditions describe as the soul operating biological hardware.
The implications were quietly avoided.
Terminal lucidity research has documented hundreds of cases where patients with severe brain damage suddenly regain complete mental clarity before death. Dr. Michael Nahm's studies show Alzheimer's patients with extensively destroyed neural tissue holding complex conversations, recognizing family members, and demonstrating personality traits that disappeared years earlier.
If consciousness emerged from brain chemistry, terminal lucidity would be physically impossible with damaged tissue.
Instead, it suggests consciousness withdrawing from a failing biological interface while remaining intact.
Heart transplant studies have recorded recipients developing donor personality traits, food preferences, and behavioral patterns. Claire Sylvia received a heart from an 18 year old motorcyclist and began craving foods she previously disliked while experiencing dreams about her donor.
Cardiologists documented these changes but refused to explore the implications that personality transcends physical organs.
The AWARE study at NYU monitored 2,060 cardiac arrest cases across 15 hospitals. Patients reported veridical perceptions of their medical treatments while clinically dead. They described ceiling mounted visual targets placed specifically to test whether consciousness could operate outside the body.
Dr. Sam Parnia's research accidentally validated out of body experiences using rigorous scientific protocols.
The medical establishment buried the findings in technical journals.
Advanced meditation research shows practitioners can observe their thought processes from a detached perspective while brain scans reveal suppressed activity in neural networks associated with self referential thinking. Consciousness demonstrates the ability to separate itself from mental activity and observe the brain's operations from an external vantage point.
Every study accidentally supports the ancient understanding that you are an eternal conscious entity temporarily operating biological machinery. Your brain serves as an interface device, translating between your soul's intentions and physical reality.
Memory belongs to the soul as accumulated impressions from multiple lifetimes. Personality reflects the soul's accumulated behavioral patterns. Awareness functions independently of neural tissue because consciousness originates beyond the physical dimension.
The research exists. The evidence is overwhelming. The conclusions are obvious.
The scientific community refuses to discuss what they accidentally discovered because it would require abandoning materialism as the foundation of modern research.
You are not your brain. You are the eternal observer operating it.
The soul is real, measurable, and scientifically documented.
Nobody wants to admit it.
THIS ✨✨ @Plinz ✨✨
Joscha Bach says consciousness is not a mysterious extra ingredient. It is a model of what it would be like if you existed.
The self is virtual by definition. It can only run inside a system capable of simulation.
This does not make it less real. It makes it substrate-dependent in exactly the way software is.
The hard problem may not be hard. It may be a category error about where to look.

The vagus nerve is crucial to our overall wellness. It is our tenth (of 12) cranial nerve and supplies our visceral organs, the ones we use for respiration, digestion, urination etc with parasympathetic information-meaning, the information we need to go into a relaxation mode, instead of a stress response. It runs from the brainstem down the neck and into the abdomen and works to turn off the “fight or flight” response in reaction to stress or perceived stress. -Dr. Jen

Why Is Healthcare Pricing Still a Secret?
The government created two major rules in the early 2020s to help patients understand the actual cost of healthcare:
1️⃣ Transparency in Coverage Rule – Requires insurance companies to disclose negotiated rates.
2️⃣ Hospital Price Transparency Rule – Requires hospitals to publish their prices.
The goal? To create a real marketplace where patients and providers could compare costs and make informed decisions.
But here’s the problem: hospitals and insurers aren’t really complying.
Instead of clear, easy-to-read pricing, they’ve published huge, unreadable data files called “machine-readable files.” These files are so big that even I can’t download them on my computer.
💰 Why would they do this? Because keeping prices a secret benefits them. If you don’t know what something costs until after treatment, you can’t shop around for better, more affordable care.
Imagine going to a restaurant where there’s no menu with prices, and they just hand you the bill at the end. That’s how healthcare works right now.
The government knows we need price transparency. But hospitals and insurers are making it as difficult as possible—because when you can’t see the cost, they control the system.
If they were truly offering the best care, they wouldn’t need to hide their prices.
But I want to know what you think? Should hospitals and insurers be required to provide clear, upfront pricing? Drop your thoughts below.

Discover the fascinating intersection of neuroscience and quantum physics. Could your brain actually be "quantum"?
This clip dives into the Orch-OR theory of consciousness. It explores how the brain's prefrontal cortex is home to pyramidal neurons containing microtubules. But it doesn’t stop there.
Inside these microtubules are tubulin dimers. Within them, aromatic benzene rings flicker between different orientations due to carbon van der Waals forces. This microscopic dance could play a part in quantum processes in the brain.
These highly organized structures might create "micro-gravity collapses" of quantum superpositions. The result? A potential explanation for the quantum origins of consciousness.
Intrigued? Learn how the smallest scales of physics might connect to the mysteries of your mind.

I wrote the cover story of the February issue of The Atlantic. It builds on a lot of reporting I did throughout 2024, and I'm really proud of it.
It’s called: THE ANTI-SOCIAL CENTURY
The thesis: Rising solitude is the most important social fact in American life today. The historic amounts of time that Americans spend alone and in their homes is reshaping the consumer economy—from dining to entertainment to delivery—warping our politics, alienating us from the realities of our neighbors and villages, and changing our very personalities.
Here are the basic facts:
1. In the last few years, in-person socialization has declined, for every demographic group, to its lowest point on record
2. The typical American is now alone more than in any period where we have decent data, going back to at least 1965
3. Americans now spend an extra 99 minutes in their homes compared to 2003—a trend that crept up slowly before the pandemic, before exploding and remaining at a seriously elevated level. As Princeton’s Patrick Sharkey wrote in a 2024 paper, the homebound trend isn't just about remote work. Homebound life has “risen for every subset of the population and for virtually all activities” from eating to praying.
4. America's social depression is far-reaching. The share of adults having dinner or drinks with friends on any given night has declined by more than 30% in the past 20 years. The share of boys and girls who say they meet up with friends almost daily outside school hours has declined by nearly 50%.
I don’t think these trends are simple. In many cases, they’re not even simply bad. (Ordering delivery: totally fine! Eating more meals alone, year after year after year: not so great!) But to see these trends—and their effects on American society—more clearly, I thought this phenomenon needed an anchoring, a naming, a media artifact for people to talk about, even if only to point out that I’m wrong. So, I wrote this.

This Man claimed that the Brain creates consciousness, but his quantum consciousness theory has been criticized for three decades. However, new evidence now supports his claim.
Dr. Stuart Hameroff is a prominent neuroscientist and anesthesiologist known for his work on the science of consciousness. He is the co-founder and director of the Center for Consciousness Studies at the University of Arizona and a professor emeritus in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Psychology.
Dr. Hameroff's research focuses on the role of microtubules—protein structures within cells—in consciousness. He proposed, alongside Sir Roger Penrose, the Orch OR (Orchestrated Objective Reduction) model of consciousness in the 1990s. This theory suggests that consciousness arises from quantum computing processes within the brain’s microtubules, with influences from the fundamental structure of spacetime at the quantum level. According to the model, this could explain phenomena like perception, self-awareness, and potentially even spirituality and the afterlife, connecting consciousness to the basic fabric of the universe.
In addition to his scientific research, Dr. Hameroff organizes the biennial Science of Consciousness conference series, which brings together researchers from various fields to discuss theories and findings on the nature of consciousness. He also continues his clinical work as a practicing anesthesiologist. His theories remain controversial in the scientific community but have spurred a great deal of interest in exploring the relationship between quantum physics and consciousness.
