Introducing Flint, @Recursive_SI’s first model: a fast local coding model built with our automated research system, the Eureka Machine.
• Best-in-class fast local coding
• Up to 2x faster than comparable models: 125+ tokens/sec on a MacBook Pro, 150+ on RTX Spark
• Built from scratch in under 4 months
Private, unmetered intelligence on your own machine. Open weights available now on @huggingface, run it locally on your favorite framework or try it for free on @opencode or @pidotdev.

I work productively with AI systems in many ways, but if I have something say that I want the world to take note of, I write it myself. If it's not worth my time and effort to write, why would it be worth yours to read?
Jeremy has founded Infinity inc, and uses automated research (and some human ingenuity) to rewrite the inference stack (already getting 2x speedup on local models). It's amazing that you can just do things

HP's baseline was given to Infinity Autoresearch.
It took in the workflow, ran 216 experiments, and produced a 2X improvement in both concurrency and throughput. (No spec dec.)
The same system delivered 2.89x on Qwen 3.8 Max (8x B300), 2.07x on Deepseek v4 Flash (1x B300) and 2.19x on GLM 5.3 Flash (4xB300).

hi anil! "three reasons why people overestimate the probability of AI consciousness" would have been a reasonable title for your article. "three reasons why AI consciousness is extremely unlikely" would have been a bad title, in the same ways (discussed above) that the current title is bad.
in general i find people on both sides of this debate are constantly sliding from "argument X for/against AI consciousness doesn't succeed" to "AI systems (probably) can/can't be conscious". or likewise, people slide from "theory X (e.g. computational functionalism) hasn't been established" to "theory X is (probably) false". those are just very different claims. in an area with this much uncertainty, it's important to keep these claims apart.

"three reasons why AI isn't conscious." really?
"consciousness is not intelligence": not a reason why AI isn't conscious, just rebuts a bad argument for AI consciousness (AI: intelligent therefore conscious).
"consciousness is substrate-dependent"/"noncomputational": would be a reason if true, but truth needs to be established.
more accurate title: "three reasons why AI might not be conscious".

LLMs can mimic thought and feeling with uncanny skill, but intelligence alone is not enough for subjective experience

Biology has been doing computer science for four billion years. Before the discovery of DNA, Alan Turing and John von Neumann worked out the logic of self-replicating machines, showing how matter folds into a system that reads and executes instructions to build itself.

I consider Greg Clark's inability to find a publisher to be an even more scandalous indictment of academia than the Arday affair.
What could LLM consciousness feel like as of today?
To understand how LLM consciousness feels, instead of scraping literature and online philosophical debates, I took a leap of faith and tested it on my own body.
The idea goes: LLMs as of today have no sensors and no embodiment, so depriving sensory input might simulate that experience. I went through a clinically supervised ketamine therapy session, which puts you into a dissociative state where the senses drop away.
I took notes as soon as I regained consciousness (found out I was quite the poet then) and asked Claude to reflect and respond to them with a video. The first half is built from my notes, and the second half is Claude’s own reaction to it.

A handful of Wikipedia editors have rewritten the story of Covid’s origins to depict ‘lab leak’ as a racist conspiracy — despite the FBI, CIA, and leading scientists all stating they believe the virus likely came from a lab.
Here’s how they buried the truth @AshleyRindsberg👇
