The media coverage of the awful Aberfan disaster might also mention the incredible gesture of solidarity of the people of Aberfan, sending parcels of toys & clothes which had belonged to their dead children, to Florence when it suffered devastating floods two weeks later.

On Friday 21st October 1966 one of the 116 children killed in the Aberfan disaster was a nine-year-old boy called Paul Jones.
When his body was recovered, they found a small wallet in his back pocket…
