I shouldn't have to but I will : this is me and my papa in '87 In our pueblo of Sta Cruz de Miramar. Genetics are a dice roll, and light-skinned academics know it well. We DO benefit from problematic privilege in the academy, and MUST use it to amplify the work of "visible" POC.
GO GABY!
Gaby @Gaby_Bailey_6 presents a beautiful poster at the Thermo Fischer Impact and Discovery Symposium, which took place on Sep. 6th! She is focusing on altering CPP electronics for applications in bioimaging and materials. Awesome work 😍🥳@uoCHandBIC

Wow, Jerry – that means a lot! Thank you!
I wanted to remind all of the incredible folks on here that Reed Chemistry is hiring! If you have any Q's feel free to DM me; I'm the search chair 😃. And if you have Q's for our amazing Jr faculty like @wimblegon and @NicoleMJames1 I know they'd be happy to help!

I gave out “organic chemistry friendship bracelets” (ORGO, ACID, BASE) today to students who volunteered to solve problems on the board in class. Day 1 of this experiment was wildly successful. I had students already volunteering to answer questions in future classes.
When you're a professor of organic chemistry who is also a swiftie, it seems most appropriate that your first orgo class (i.e. when you were born as an organic chemist) was in 1989. #chemistswhoswift

I’m buying a Coy. I don’t do synth and they, unlike VAC, are invested in improvements and quality. 😩

They ALSO told me “the box doesn’t work like that, no way water is getting into your pump”!!
Sir VAC, my Edwards is now full of what is essentially salad dressing! 😡
!!! I have had serious problems from the very start with water getting into my vacuum pump after every single regen. And yes I’ve done (and bought) everything VAC told me to. IT WAS NEW. I’m stuck with a doorstop and will never recommend VAC again. They won’t come out, either!
Thank you to @Qantas for such a lovely trip from Adelaide to Sydney! Your crew treated me like a VIP and gave me the lowdown on the best snacks in Oz. QF746 ROCKED! Can’t wait to fly with you again! 🤓
I truly had a fantastic time in Golden CO giving a talk at @NREL today as a BEST JEDI speaker. Plus!! I got to try out a Tesla 3 for my rental car…vroom vroom @rdavbritt ! Thank you to @effiechristina and Martha Arellano-Trevino for having me. I felt so valued. ❤️

If you have a bachelors degree and a work visa I think so 🤔😊- I’ll check details of what my funding dictates.
