Q. What is it to embrace Christ?
A. It is, like Simeon, to clasp him in the arms of faith, with complacency and
delight; Luke 2:28.
Q. Where is it that faith embraces him?
A. In the promises of the gospel, Heb. 11:13 — Fisher's Catechism 31.9-10
I have not voted for any Dems as a rebuke to Trump. I have voted write ins or third party on occasion. I can’t bring myself to vote for Dems. Non starter with their ideology.

Liberals are going to claim Florida didn't elect Angie because they're racist....as Byron Donalds is elected governor.
I’ll let Clubber Lang answer. youtu.be/lSPNQ82Sq4E?si=3_o4…
Well, dang. It looks like there's now just one Habit Burger in all of South Carolina. Guess it's just not panning out well in the Palmetto State. Easley location closed last year and the Greenville one this year.

I’ll never understand how disliking Trump sends disgruntled Republicans running straight into the arms of the Democrats. I’ve criticized him for years. Never voted for him. Never voted for a Democrat, either. They don’t represent me.
Some of you have the political convictions of a cheap date. Whiny little fools.

Pope Leo XIV has cast his mail ballot from Vatican City. A lot of you have asked how a sitting pope still qualifies to vote in Illinois. These three facts explain it.
This is a first for me. Applied to job. Hiring manager expressed interest. Them ghosts me. I check in weeks later. The employee who left the job had second thoughts and reapplied. So he hired her back. What?

Finally I feel seen as a Lutheran.
Presidential Message on Reformation Day:
From the earliest days of our Republic, prayer and faith in Almighty God have stood as the foundation of our strength, the source of our unity, and the fount of our greatness. This Reformation Day, I send my best wishes to the countless Christians across our country commemorating the Protestant Reformation and its enduring message of salvation by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Five hundred years ago, William Tyndale — inspired by the work of Martin Luther — advanced the Protestant Reformation’s devotion to Holy Scripture through the publication of the first New Testament printed in English, shaping the language of the Bibles that would fortify the faith and resolve of America’s founding generation.
The Sacred Scriptures helped form the religious convictions that formed our young Nation’s founding ideals of God-given rights and individual liberty, a spiritual inheritance we honor as we continue to reflect on 250 glorious years of American Independence. The Bible remains a cornerstone of our Nation’s character and upholds our steadfast devotion to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Guided by an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, my Administration is working to restore the moral and religious foundations that have sustained our Republic for generations. As President, I will always support citizens of faith and defend their place in the public square, honoring the enduring role of our churches in strengthening families, serving communities, and preserving the core values that have anchored us across the centuries.
As Christians across our country unite in faith and fellowship this Reformation Day, I send my heartfelt prayers for a meaningful celebration and encourage each of you to draw renewed strength from God’s Word as we carry forward the blessings of faith and freedom throughout our beloved Nation.

If your neighborhood is dark, quiet, or unsafe, your children are welcome to come trick-or-treat in mine. We have plenty to share.
But if we want to talk about unpopular opinions, let’s discuss mobs of 17-year-olds showing up in the cars they drove themselves and going door-to-door like toddlers. Because I have thoughts.

I asked my students recently if they still studied Greek and Latin roots as prep for the SAT (this was pretty standard practice amongst high achievers in the 90s when I was in high school). It seems it's not part of test prep anymore. That surprised me but it's explained by this.
I am speechless. Thomas Aquinas College just dropped a study on the rigor of the new SAT.
It compares the 1980/87 test with 2026. The findings should terrify every parent and teacher...
Vocabulary has collapsed.
Old SAT: 70.6% of questions tested vocab.
New SAT: 15%.
The old test forced students to know a wide range of words through analogies, antonyms, and sentence completions. The new test abandoned that. Most vocab questions now just ask students to fill in one blank from context.
Reading passages also got radically shorter (average ~97 words vs 300–340).
The new test uses short expository passages and hands you the necessary background knowledge inside the text. The older tests leaned much more heavily on argumentative and persuasive writing, assumed far more historical, scientific, and cultural knowledge, and penalized students who lacked it.
This is a redefinition of what "college readiness" means.
If you believe that kids should develop rigorous vocabulary, be capable of sustained reading, and possess background knowledge, I have bad news for you. The SAT no longer measures these.
If you want a future where children can actually read difficult texts and construct complex arguments, the SAT must be replaced now.
This cannot go on.
