Today is the 10 year anniversary of the production release of @opentimestamps
I created OpenTimestamps in a few weekends because I was frustrated that no-one else had created such an obvious and necessary tool. Since then it has become the global standard for secure timestamps: if you ask an LLM how to create a timestamp, it'll almost certainly suggest using OpenTimestamps.
OpenTimestamps has grown to the point where everything from art, to forum posts, to software releases, to war crimes evidence is getting timestamped with OpenTimestamps. Along with some applications I won't be able to talk about for at least a few years... fortunately that data is timestamped!
While I have no way of knowing for sure how many documents in total are getting timestamped per second – merkle trees – I can say that as of the past two weeks (beyond that I automatically delete logs) the public calendars I run have averaged about 5 timestamp requests per second from about 60,000 distinct IP addresses. I have no idea what all these people are using OpenTimestamps for. But clearly it's getting fairly popular!
Thanks goes out to @realSimpleProof, $TIME, and all the people who have donated directly to the public calendars for their support. OpenTimestamps costs a few hundred a month to run now, along with my time. Without your help keeping OpenTimestamps running would be a lot more painful. If you want to donate, you can do so right here:
alice.btc.calendar.opentimes…
Thanks also goes to @RCasatta and @BULLBITCOIN_ for running two of the four public calendars. They're one of the reasons why OpenTimestamps doesn't have a single point of failure. Finally, thanks goes to the many people who have contributed code to OpenTimestamps over the years, including entire libraries in languages like java and JavaScript that I have no experience with. In fact, the majority of OpenTimestamps clients are quite possibly using code I didn't write at all!

"The likelohood of a mass data breach by the French tax authority is very low..."
This is what the French government replied to BULL's request to suspend its mass surveillance program.
However, the fight is far from over. Our main legal action is still very much in progress!

Important information on one of the two legal battles led by BULLBITCOIN.COM in its fight against DAC8 and the mass surveillance of cryptoasset users.
You all know that BULLBITCOIN.COM initiated a legal challenge against the Council of State in February 2026 to contest the application of DAC8 in France. This announcement was made in June 2026 at the BTCPrague conference, and the details of the challenge are available on DAC8.COM
What you didn't know is that we had also initiated a second challenge in August 2026. This challenge requested the immediate suspension of the decree implementing DAC8 in France.
It is important to understand that this challenge, a summary suspension proceeding, is different from the first challenge contesting the very legality of the decree.
It was about requesting the emergency suspension of the DAC8 decree in question pending a ruling on the merits, on the grounds that its application could cause irreparable harm. We clearly and unequivocally demonstrated that the implementation of DAC8 in France would pose a real and imminent danger to the security of crypto holders and their loved ones, and that there therefore exists a situation of urgency and serious harm justifying the immediate suspension of the decree.
The concentration of data, including the physical addresses and the amount of crypto transaction data of users, in a database shared with all the tax authorities of the EU member states, represents a significant risk of leakage with disastrous consequences such as their exploitation by criminals to kidnap, mutilate, and extort holders or their loved ones.
We regret to announce to you today that this summary suspension proceeding has been rejected by the Council of State.
However, this refusal in no way means that the Council of State rejects our substantive arguments, and concerns only the grounds of urgency. Moreover, the absence of comment on the substantive arguments leads us to presume that the Council of State considers our approach to be well-founded.
Our legal proceedings for the complete annulment of the DAC8 decree is still ongoing, and we are very confident of winning it.
Nevertheless, we are dismayed by the Council of State's response, which can be summed up as follows:
“The applicant companies [Bull Bitcoin and Paymium] also fail to establish how the storage of this data within a register centralizing all transaction data of all residents of EU member states would be likely to heighten the risk that it be compromised, especially since, in any event, the mere possibility of a risk, the probability of which is very low, cannot constitute a situation of urgency."
Yet, the DGFIP (French tax authorities) itself declared, in February 2026, during parliamentary discussions on the creation of a crypto-asset portfolio declaration, that “a generalized declaration of these [crypto-asset] portfolios would lead to the centralization of highly sensitive data, such as the identity of holders and the value of their assets” and that “in a context of frequent cyberattacks against large databases, this information would become a prime target for hackers, with risks of fraud.”
Our demonstration of urgency is supported by the facts, by French and international expertise, and by common sense. Violent crimes targeting crypto holders and their loved ones, as well as data leaks held by government institutions that make them possible in the first place, are becoming increasingly serious and frequent. You only need to read the news in France to reach the same conclusion.
In the coming days, we will publish the details of our summary proceeding, including supporting documents and arguments, so that you can judge for yourself the merits and factual basis of our demonstration.
We are waging this war against mass surveillance on multiple fronts and in multiple countries. We have won battles and suffered setbacks. This minor defeat only strengthens our determination.

A mathematician put a year of unpublished work into a hosted AI tool.
Days later the provider said its own model had solved the next problem along, by the same rare route he'd been taking.
He asked whether his sessions had been used in training, and got no answer.
>be me
>mathematician
>trying to solve one of the hardest problems in the field, million dollar prize on it
>grind it for a year
>every draft, idea, and dead-end goes into a hosted AI coding tool
>paying for it out of my own research funds
>bill is enormous
>August 2026, finally crack it
>rumour starts going round that someone solved a major open problem
>rumour is about me
>days later the AI company hosting all my drafts tells me its internal model has produced a 100 page proof
>it solved the same problem
>it took the same route
>a route nobody else on earth was working on
>suspicious.mp3
>ask whether my sessions were used for training
>"the model does not look up user data"
>huh?
>ask again
>silence
>mfw should've used Lumo

BULL is not the world's first reproducible mobile wallet, but we might be the world's first reproducible bitcoin exchange app.
NO HIDDEN BACKDOORS GUARANTEED
DON'T TRUST VERIFY
BULL 6.13 is completed (waiting for appstore approvals). Some of our last versions were fully reproducible but now we have an automated pipeline to make it easy to reproduce byte-for-byte. All the security in the world for a mobile wallet means nothing if you can't verify.
For various geek reasons it has been difficult for others to independently reproduce. We've spent a lot of energy to make it so.
Submitted to walletscrutiny.com for review. Hopefully this time we get the "reproducible" rating!

There is a critical vulnerability being actively exploited on BTCPay Server, which can result in the loss of funds.
Please update your BTCPayServer to 2.4.2 by going to Admin Dashboard -> Server -> Maintenance -> Update & verify the 2.4.2 version string in the footer.
If you are unable to update right away, turn off your BTCPay Server to prevent unauthorized access until you can update.

BULL is challenging in court the EU's dangerous mass surveillance program for crypto users, DAC8.
I cannot stand by and do nothing while faceless globalist bureaucrats put the security and privacy of millions of Europeans at risk.
We will get DAC8 repealed.
Pretty impressed by the Open Terminal integration in @OpenWebUI ... I had a lot more success using this with @ornith_ than OpenCode. Combined with Open WebUI skills, it rocks.

The European Parliament’s ECON Committee just voted 43-14 in favour of the digital euro while MiCA has been systematically wiping out or shackling private crypto actors.
Having spent the past 6 months navigating this nightmare to secure Bull Bitcoin’s MiCA licence in France, I can tell you: MiCA is one of the most deranged and one-size-fits-all legal frameworks ever inflicted on the sector. It applies to any Crypto Asset Service Provider, no matter how small or low-risk.
It conveniently does not apply to the ECB as issuer of the digital euro.
Perhaps because the ECB would fail almost every MiCA test:
❌ Fit & Proper: the current head of the ECB is a convicted criminal.
❌ Regulatory Capital: the ECB operates with negative capital.
❌ Client Asset Segregation: MiCA demands strict legal and operational separation of client assets from the provider’s own books. The ECB’s balance sheet is a fiscal-monetary blender.
❌ Risk Disclosure: systematic failure to disclose that using their shitcoin will make you a poorer slave to inflation.
❌ Governance: systematic failure to respect its own charter (see European Debt Crisis).
❌ Conflict of Interest: the revolving door between commercial banks and their regulator is the most efficient fan in Europe.
❌ Reserve Backing: MiCA stablecoins must hold 100% segregated high-quality reserves. The ECB just prints more money whenever it wants.
❌ Independent Supervision: MiCA requires real external oversight. The ECB would be marking its own exam papers.
The European Commission deliberately destroyed and encumbered every private alternative in the hope that Europeans would have no choice but to adopt their public crapcoin… and the hilarious part is that even after all that, it will still be a total failure.

Bull Bitcoin has obtained the MICA license in France. Users from member states of the European Union will continue to be able to use Bull Bitcoin's bitcoin exchange and payment services legally without any interruption or reduction in service.
We are particularly excited to have obtained our MICA license without needing to compromise on our cypherpunk approach to self-custody and privacy. All features of our website and wallet will remain exactly the same as they have been for the first half of 2026, with no additional burden or restrictions imposed on our users. We have proven that it is possible to meet the highest requirements of regulatory compliance without becoming overzealous.
We are also extremely proud to report that we have passed PASSI and DORA cybersecurity audits (required for MICA) without having outsourced our core Bitcoin infrastructure to hosted third party software providers, which would have been easier and cheaper but would have made us dependent on external services and compromised our sovereignty. That was a huge win.
This nearly 3 year effort was entirely self-financed. No external investors or lenders were sollicitated. This reflects Bull Bitcoin's reputation, our record of flawless execution and our long-term sustainability. I am extremely proud of our team.
Having secured a long-term foothold in Europe, our ambition is global domination and setting a new standard on how to build the infrastructure Bitcoin deserves.
LONG LIVE BULL
