The Institute for Family Studies calls it a dating recession. Among 22–35-year-olds who expect to marry someday, 74% of women and 64% of men said they had not dated or had dated only a few times in the past year. These are young adults in their prime dating years who want to get married. Yet they’re not dating.
Just because it hasn’t been taught over the pulpit lately doesn’t mean it’s not in force.
We learned this recently with gambling.
I frequently spend time with people some on the left describe as “right-wing extremists” and I can tell you, none of them EVER talk this way—even behind close doors—about anyone.
Only leftists believe murdering children for their parents political views is okay.

I was delighted to get to write this piece. Usually I have to keep my demography takes "demography, with a veiled hint of faith." Was nice to be able to lay out what I think the stakes really are for churches.
Happy to have @lymanstoneky debut @AmReformer discussing an important study he and his colleagues @FamStudies recently published on cultural factors influencing fertility and ways Christians can think about creating a culture that supports and encourages having children.
You have to have your head buried in the dirt, faithless and full of hate for humanity, to not think this is beautiful.
"You can't tell me how to live my life!"
Literally, yes I can.
Get married, have babies, go to church, love America.

When celebrities people admire have more children, the people who admire them also desire and intend to have more children, as @PeterRFB , @DrJasonCarroll , and I show in new @FamStudies research!

Since when is having children a risky business? A fascinating new @FamStudies report suggests that across many countries, people who are more willing to take risks want more children and have more of them, too.

"According to the norms within many all-male groups, when one man proposes doing something immoral or illegal, the bro code dictates that other men go along with it."
I wish the author had demonstrated any curiosity about the way boys and young men are benefitted from participating in male-only groups the same way female-only spaces can help girls and young women thrive.
In my book, Generation Uncoupled, I found that it was men with fewer social connections who were most likely to express a sense of aggrievement. Who believed they were discriminated against, and said society did not value them. These are the boys & young men who are most likely to find their way to the manosphere.
Honey, wake up. A new @FamStudies report just dropped.
Personal attitudes that indicate a positive viewpoint towards family life consistently have statistically significant positive associations with the desired number of children, the likelihood of intending to have another child, and the number of children already born.

Parents need to encourage their children to get married and have kids of their own.
New @FamStudies research from @lymanstoneky @PeterRFB @DrJasonCarroll shows us that parental influence can push people to want to have more children.

Childless people often feel like the world is constantly telling them to have kids. So it's confusing when people talk about antinatalism.
Here @PeterRFB @DrJasonCarroll and I show some actual data on experiences of antinatal comments!
Bigger families get a *lot* of crap!
Hypothesis: non religious liberals are more likely to seek out mental health services because it’s a replacement for religious worship.
Conservatives who attend church weekly are the least likely to have ever been diagnosed with a mental health condition.
Liberals who have low attendance are the most likely to have a diagnosis.
A confounding variable is that liberals tend to seek out mental health services more than conservatives, however.
