Felony crime in Central Park, ytd, is nearly 62 percent higher than in the year before the pandemic. Like many parts of NYC, Central Park is consistently less safe than it once was. Yet the city council and mayor are moving to take away dozens of pairs of Jane-Jacobs-style eyes on the street from the park -- the men and women slowly and continuously viewing the drive and paths from up high in a carriage, including into the evening and late-night hours. Ripping apart complex urbanism for fanatical special interests is rarely a good idea.
What a statement. Ric Flair is like, I’m still Ric Flair dammit. And I’m still an alcoholic. Woooooo!
Don’t make em like this gentleman anymore.

This revelation is yet another embarrassment for our state coming from Letitia James. The Attorney General’s office is supposed to be the chief law enforcement office in the state and has more than 700 attorneys. The fact that they can’t investigate a sexual assault case with the resources they have shows Letitia James is not running a serious office. And New York taxpayers will be forced to pay millions of dollars to outside attorneys because of it.
It’s time for a change at Attorney General and on November 3rd we’ll make one.

What is this I see? Polite disagreement from Erin Foster? Inconceivable!
“Nobody Wants This” creator Erin Foster has responded to Adam Brody‘s support for Palestine, saying: “I disagree with him, and that’s OK.”
“You know, it’s complicated,” Foster said of Brody’s comments. “I think our work environment, our set is very similar to dinner tables around the world where people are having debate and discussion and disagreeing. And, you know, while I love Adam, I also disagree with him, and that’s OK.”
“[I want] our Jewish fans to know that I see you and I hear you and I understand how you feel. The show has always been and always will be a love letter to Judaism. That is why I made this show. It’s because of how beautiful of an experience I’ve had becoming Jewish and being a Jewish person. And sitting here right now, at this time in the world when there is almost zero positive representation of Jewish people, I think it’s so important to have that. Everyone is entitled to a different opinion. I can just tell you what I created this show for, and what the intention of the show is.”

Watching GOP Attorney General candidate Saritha Komatireddy surgically destroy incumbent Letitia James in their debate two weeks ago, I suddenly felt like Marvin Berry in “Back to the Future” looking on in disbelief as time-traveling Marty McFly performed “Johnny B. Goode.”
It's true. During the AG debate, I did the Marvin Berry to my family....

There is utterly no factual or data basis for this claim. Four people have died violently in Central Park since the summer: one via horse crash (the first ever), two via bicycle crash (not the first ever), and one murder (also by far not the first ever). In fact, horses calm traffic; without the carriages, cyclists and pedicabs will move faster, posing even more danger to their occupants and to pedestrians.
Today, @NYCCouncil passed Romanch’s Law, ending horse carriages in NYC by June 2028.
When Central Park was created in 1858, NYC had roughly 800,000 residents, and carriages were part of daily life. Now, the Park sees 40M visits a year, and carriages pose a serious safety risk.
My God bless Father Giannicola Maria Simone and his middle finger. It may not be the finger of St. Teresa of Avila, but it sends a powerful message.
