Impressive study by the Stockholm group. Among young (<40y) aSAH survivors, 19.5% develop a new aneurysm and 4.2% had a new aSAH during a median follow-up of 24.7 yrs. Importantly, no rupture among those adhering to the surveillance program. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…

A great opportunity for early-career neurosurgeons from countries with developing research infrastructures --> Apply for the EANS WIDERA Research Award until 17 May!
This initiative supports up to four grants of €15,000, enabling minimum 6-month research placements in leading European neurosurgical centres. The aim is to strengthen research training for young neurosurgeons from countries with developing research infrastructures.
Eligible applicants are EANS members under 40 from countries included in the WIDERA programme, with placements hosted at institutions within the EANS network.
Applicants must be individual EANS members, and host institutions must be within an EANS National Member Society.
Take the next step in your research journey in neurosurgery.

Critically important publication - will result in a clear change in management. We need to understand why these results are different from past publications, as this will provide a more rational basis for precision management of Hb levels in individual patients
A liberal transfusion strategy compared with a restrictive strategy resulted in a lower rate of unfavorable neurological outcome among patients with acute brain injury.
